Notre Dame's QB graduates this year and has another year of eligibility. The rumormill has it that Crist is interested in potentially playing for Texas. Good Strong QB but not sure it makes sense.

If he can pass I am interested. Don't know enough about him but I do some checking.

Weiss, Crist's old coach at Notre Dame evidently has interest in Crist playing for the Jayhawks next year. He would not have to site out a year wherever he goes. Also heard Wisconsin has interest. Mack and company have said they will consider picking up a JUCO qb to start next year since Ash and McCoy are still young.

They benched Dayne Crist a few games into the season!!!! Why would we want him at Texas? We have 2 guys who have been warming the bench (alternating) all season! Let's go with a juco stud who can run and throw. Time to raid the juco ranks! Prior to this season Mack has not recruited one single juco player in 13 years. Time to pull the trigger!

I don't mean to sound rude but Texas squanders talent or recruited terribly. There is no explicable reason as to why Texas does not have a capable quarterback. Last year, this year, what's next year? I would jump on Crist like a crack addict on a crack pipe if there was a potential for him to play at Texas. He gives leadership and presence - something Ash and McCoy couldn't do.

I have to disagree with you CougDave. Did you watch the A&M game?? McCoy won the hearts of teammates with his effort, heart and leadership in that game.

Let me try and explain what happened. It started with Garrett Gilbert and Texas like about 50 other teams had this kid rated as the best QB coming out of high school. Gilbert's first year we also had a kid named Colt McCoy. Not a lot of recruits want to come knowing Gilbert was going to be the next guy.

Well turns out GG wasn't the next guy and it put the QB position in a full free fall and they haven't recovered to this day. Hope that helps.

My opinion is that Texas should have a good idea of who will be the leader of this team by now. Gilbert was the best qb on the team, as the coaches pointed out by naming him the starter before the season began. When you have guys who make an impact as freshmen you truly luck ut.... A la Colt McCy and VY. Texas is Texas and there are no excuses. Bring in a one year guy and let him pass his way to a title for The Horns. I don't think Ash or McCoy have the capacity to do that next year.
