Crazy Weather in Texas

I am in ET in Longview,not only is hot & humid. I have regular attena & am not gettin local stations but gettin in Houston,Rosenburg, & Jasper.

Hot but no much humidity here in the Metroplex. Supposed to be 105 today and 106 tomorrow. Next week looks promising though.

Temp is 95° in the shade.

At 3 o’clock my pool will be entirely shaded, and I will be in there with a cold one. Or two.

Pre. cable and sattillite some tv viewers kept logs on far away tv stations recieved (like the ham radio did)

Signal hits clowds and bounces back to earth.

Here at Lake Fork the heat index has reached 124. Twice the weather console did not give a heat index value. It just read: "HI."

The summer of 80, long thought to be among the toughest we've seen, had 69 days of 100 degree heat. 2011 had 71.

Last year, we had 65 days of 100 degree heat. It was brutal.

I have an internet/tv service that is fiber optic. Sounds great, right?  Not so much.

It is fine when it is running, but if you need service, hold on. It’s a wild ride. 

Currently, I have been without service since, I believe, 6/17.  Someone working on my neighbors connection cut my line, actually severed it.  I just don’t now if it’s cut in my neighbor’s yard or at the main terminal for 4 houses.

Believe it or not, it has taken me this long to get them to send a fiber optic technician, well, I will believe it when I see it.

Luckily, now I have a good option for internet, but no good option for tv. I really don’t want to go to internet TV, and the inherent complications. I could let my 10 year old grandson train me, I guess.

'80 was by far the worst summer I have experienced. Lake Dallas, Lewisville or Garza Little Elm, whatever you wanted to call it back then was down over 100 yards from the shore. We watched it recede every week. Lake Buchanon here in the Hill Country took over five years to recover.

100 yards from shore is pretty bad. I don't think I've ever seen it that bad.

I have to travel to Aubrey and US 380 a lot. There is a 380 bridge over Lake Lewisville where the river becomes Lake Lewisville. In the middle there is an island. When it's dry, trees grow there. When its wet, the trees get submerged. That is how I tell when the lake is okay. If those trees are submerged, it's good.

SHA, on Monday, I told them if it is not fixed by Wednesday, I am changing services & there will be no going back because I will have to buy a new TV.

We will see what happens!  They use out of country people for scheduling and subcontractors to install and repair. I’ve never seen such an ineffective and unorganized company.

Well, possibly the Postal Service during Christmas.

I have found that if I stay close to them and pay attention to what they're doing, they tend to do a better job. Be a helicopter homeowner, lol.

Summer of 80, I distinctly remember Channel 6 that served the Temple and Waco area. The weatherman Roy somebody...  had one forecast everyday. Fair and Hot. It got to where they would print it backwards (Tohdnariaf), diagonal, all over the 5-day forecast. There wasn't much in the way of graphics then, so they tried to get creative. When it's one of these kind of heat waves I always think of Tohdnariaf.

Stay cool, y'all. It's pretty warm in Florida, but the ocean helps!

Suppose to cool down today to 99. extended forecast says plain chilly 92, but what do people that can be wrong 50% of time and keep job.
