Concentrate On

There seems to be a lot of group think on Mora. So just for accuracy, here is the UCLA information. In the 4 years under the previous coach, UCLA was 21-30 overall, and 13-23 in the PAC. Remember, the PAC wasn't very competitive during those years either. In the last 2 years, in a more competitive league from top to bottom, Mora's UCLA teams have gone 18-8 overall and 12-6 in conference. He won the South Division championship his first year and lost to Stanford in the championship game. His team lost pretty badly to Baylor in the Holiday Bowl. This years team will be facing VT in a bowl. He has also defeated his primary rival USC both years. It's not unreasonable to me, to acknowledge the turn around he has brought to UCLA and to conclude that he is a talented coach. That doesn't mean that he needs to be your favorite, but he is far better than what some are portraying.
indeed; he could be the next Pete Carroll, possibly. We could do far worse probably, even if I'd love Harbaugh and, possibly, Shaw.

Briles would be a big mistake. He is a scum bag who voted us down during 08 and cost us another shot at a Title. He has only won the Big 12 once in a down year and needed help to do it. Hiring him would be like hiring David McWilliams and will begin the downward trend that history has for us. 20 years of crap between Royal and Mack.

My BF is a UCLA alum and former player. He attended school in the mid 90s when UCLA football and basketball were relevant. He wants Mora Jr. gone because he hates his undisciplined teams and under performs against the elite. Times have changed and I think he should keep his expectations reasonable. Mora has changed the culture at UCLA. On the other hand, I think Mora has done wonderfully for UCLA due to financial handcuffs the UC System has on their athletic department.

Mora, Fedora, and James Franklin are three names we should never have to make it down to on the list of potential head coaches for Texas.

My "dream Team"

Tomlin or Harbaugh as HC, Philip Montgomery as OC, Jerry Gray as DC, and then bring in Chucky as a part time assistant to break down film.

Montgomery could get the Arkansas State job. He has been interviewed.

H-E-L-L N-O on Gray as DC. The only way I'd even remotely consider Gray would be if Gregg Williams were coming with him and that's not going to happen. Gray has never been an even average DC unless he was with Williams. If he weren't a former player he wouldn't even be mentioned. I'd rather have someone like Everett Withers or Vance Bedford than Gray.

Exactly. We need to go after the best coach possible regardless the timeline of availability. It'll pay off sooner rather than later.

um did your boyfriend happen to play for UCLA in 1997 by chance? Because if so, dump him.

His QB was Tommy Maddox. Graduated in 1995. So, no Route 66.

Mora jr.

In that order

If it were not for Fisher coaching in the MNC, he would would looked at as a more viable candidate.

Texas does not want to wait that long to name the next HC. Which confuses me b/c Harbaugh could be tied up for an extensive time too?
Will the Jedi Mind Trick work??

you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you are totally wrong. For one he coaches at freakin Baylor and considering that the fact they have rose to where they are and pull in the talent they have is due to Briles. He's made teams better everywhere he's been. Give him Texas resources and pair that with his ability to already recruit in Texas and it would be a great hire. His system fits well in the big 12 and with Texas high schools. He's not a David McWilliams at all

Dizz, ive never really liked Briles but i agree. If we are not able to get the home run hires (harbaugh, meyer, saban, chip kelley), briles is my favorite of the second tier guys for reasons above. He always has a top 5-10 offense at baylor. Just imagine what he could do here and with best DC money could buy. It wasnt long ago before briles that Baylor was biggest joke of any major college conference. Now look at them. They are always exciting to watch and who wouldnt want to play in that offensive system?

Mora is the least resistance hire and has always been my fear. Just don't see the upside there.

Mack's blessing BTW.

Briles has never had a defense no matter where he has been. He will need one to win a national championship. He has always had great offenses and eye for spotting/developing QBs. Sidenote.... He is slime ball.
