Common Man Predictions – Wolverine!

Michigan returns only 5 starters from last years team. 1 on offense and 4 on defense. Their starting safety tore his ACL during the spring and will not play this season.

If we score 6 FGs and 1 TD that would be both frustrating and impressive. Impressive that we had enough success to put together 7 scores, frustrating that we didn't cash in on a few more TDs to really blow the game open.

Texas will journey to Michigan this week in a game that the nation has been waiting for since the end of last season. It's the BIG HOUSE and there will be 107K+ screaminig fans packed into that place.

Good thing we don't have to play the crowd.

Michigan didn't show much in their game with Fresno. Offense looked very vanilla and not real efficient. Their defense, however, looked formidable. The DL Michigan has is special, so it will require Texas' best OL effort to be successful. The Michigan seconardy is good, but can be had.

Turnovers, IMO, will dictate the game. I think we steal more than they do.

I’m trying to avoid making predictions but here you go:

Texas has at least 8 WRs with track speed and a starting RB with track speed.

Texas and Michigan both start off well then the game slows down the second quarter. Texas pulls away mid 3rd quarter and never looks back.

Biggest concern continues from last year is Texas in the red zone. Can we convert opportunities into TDs better against good teams or not? I have faith we will.

Texas - 33
Michigan - 20

A lot of predictions on here for us to score >30. Only 1 team has scored >30 against Michigan in the last two seasons (TCU in the CFP, 51 pts in a bonkers game). Only a handful have scored >20 (Maryland with 27 pts both of the last two years).

I'm thinking this will be a defensive battle. A slobber knocker, but I do think Texas will grind out 20+ points.
The #1 DL vs the arguably #1 OL.

I think this game is mid-20s Texas, mid-teens Michigan. I'll go 27-13 Texas.

A few specific predictions:
Texas passes for 200 yard in the first half, rushes for 100 in the 2nd half
Michigan passes for less than 150 yards, throws 2 ints
Blue goes over 120 combined yards

I think it's hard to look at stats like these for college football. The main reason is the player turnover can be quite a bit, year to year.

Michigan has been a predominate running team under Harbaugh with a good QB. So if Michigan can run the ball, they eat up clock and limit the scoring chances of their opponent. If they get a lead and their opponent has to pass, they can tee off on the QB.

Michigan will try to run the ball on Saturday. That is their main hope to win the game. I don't think they have the QB to win this game. He needs that running game to be effective.

Texas on the other hand averaged more than 30 pts a game last year. They scored over 30 points against Bama on the road. I like their changes of scoring over 30 points.

Another factor, IMO, will be their first-year head coach. So far, he's had a close game with a WAC type team at home. Is he up to the task here?

We ain't Fresno State.

Good points.

I think style of play, by both teams probably keeps us under 30. Michigan will likely spend all game attempting to maintain long drives by running the ball. I think Sark will sling it around early, and then hit the ground game to close out the game.

Michigan has lost quite a bit, but still quite stout across the board on defense and across the OL.

I'd love for us to break 30, if we do, that's a guaranteed win IMO.

Hit my 200 yards passing in the 1st half. Run game has been successful so I feel like we can hit the 100 yard rushing in 2nd half.

50 yards passing and 1 int for Michigan. I like my <150 yards and 2 int prediction at this point. They will have to try and pass a lot.

Not sure if Blue goes >120. Injury scare may hamper that one

Hit the 200 yard passing in 1st half. We didn't rush for 100 in the 2nd half. Game didn't really call for us to be aggressive on offense and we bled clock (so did Mich)
Mich was well under 150 yards passing until they got a lot of yards in garbage time, did throw 2 ints
Blue with 59 yards total. Injury slowed him and Wisner and Gibson picked up good yardage when he was out. Glad he came back healthy.

Ladies, @hookemhorb and I have tied for the win this week. We both lost two games, the same two games.

However, my tie breaker was closer than his.

I will enjoy my new steak knives!
