It was a very good week for our pickers as one of our members, PTA, got the first perfect predictions of the year. This was on the heels of a pretty dismal weekend the previous week.

We look around and saw the tragedy that is Florida State continue on with a loss to Duke. BYU pretty much eliminated Okie State from championship contention and also inserted their name into the playoff conversation. Miami continues their undefeated streak although it was pretty unimpressive only beating Louisville by a TD and allowinig 45 points. I don't think we saw Indiana coming this year. They thumped Nebraska 56-7 and suddenly, we're like, wow, they're good. Our darkhorse darling, Rutgers iis now just the same old Rutgers, losing to hapless UCLA at home.

It was a very interesting week. Texas is no longer #1. Oregon is now. That Oregon-Ohio State game looks to tell us a lot.

Lots of good games this week to choose:

#12 Notre Dame @ #24 Navy

Washington vs #13 Indiana

Oklahoma @ Ole Miss

Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech

#20 Illinois @ #1 Oregon

#21 Mizzou @ #15 Alabama

#8 LSU @ #14 Texas A&M

#22 SMU @ Duke

Michigan St @ Michigan

Auburn @ Kentucky

TIEBREAKER – Guess the score #5 Texas @ #25 Vanderbilt

Interesting week.

Notre Dame - as much as I would love to pick Navy in this game, I can't believe ND would blow their chance at the CFP. Navy is better than N Illinois but lightening isn't striking twice.

Indiana - Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith once sang "I'm a Believer" (until OSU comes around)

Ole Miss - ouSux fired their OC. whose next to be shown the door. ouSux again.

Virginia Tech - w/o QB1, GTech is going to have trouble going bowling. VTech in a blowout.

Oregon - a toilet just flushed. That was Illinois hopes to make the CFP and/or CCG.

Alabama - another toilet flush as Missouri's hopes of the CFP go down the drain. If Deboer loses this one...

LSU - loser joins the 1 loss conference logjam, winner is in the driver's seat. If aggies win, then Texas is the only thing standing in the way of their making the CCG and CFP. I can only hope, but I'm taking the Tigers.

SMU - Ponies flush the Blue Devils hopes down the drain.

Michigan - this is a close one and I'm nervous picking the Wolverines but when in doubt, go with the home team.

Kentucky - another close one with 2 bottom feeders, but Kentucky needs this one if they want to go bowling. Taking the home team.

TIEBREAKER – I gotta believe Sark rights the ship and the Horns come out angry with something to prove. Texas 42 - Vanderbilt 17

Texas wins but it'll be much of the same script as the last 2 weeks. A very slow start and struggle offensively. The defense is stout to start but shows frustrations and tiredness with the continued offensive struggles. We struggle in the kicking game again. We are tied 10-10 at halftime. Texas pulls away in the second half but still marginally win 33-20.

Sometimes I wonder if the slow starts are more because of the scripted plays Sarks always runs. I have heard multiple times he scripts the first 15 plays. 15 plays is alot of plays to run regardless of the defense is doing.

It seems like a mixed bag. We aren't executing (all O players) great and sometimes it does seem like the defense knows exactly what we're planning to do. Especially the elite defenses like Kirby has at Georgia.

Okay, marking you down for one loss already. lol

Sark is scripting the plays that are historically most effecttive for us – and will often iniclude new plays. But the bottom line is, Sark isn't just trying to score, he's observing how the defense responds to what we're doing. When he finds a weakness, he then will exploit it.

Yea I was confused because it feels like voodoo to me. I have heard it 3 times. Right before playing Washington in CFP, before ousux and Georgia this year. I am sure he does it every game like usual but everytime I hear its like the kiss of death lol

I think Bill Walsh started this concept. It works if you don't ignore the results. Walsh certainly was successful with it.

I don't know if Sark and the staff are that good at it.

ND - This one will be much closer than people think. It's a possible upset in my mind.

Bama comes back to the living.
LSU - Texas needs a little help and what Longhorn fan could bring themselves to root for aggy?

I think some of you need to revisit your tiebreaker thing. We're at the enemy's home, they are good, and we still don't know whats wrong with Ewers. I don't see a big margin win here.
Thoughts?

The keys to a comfortable win:
  • The intermediate pass. If we can hit 10-15 yards down the field
  • We've got to throw 2-3 deep passes in the first half to stretch the D. Would be great if we can hit one or two.
  • Run the ball to eat a little clock. This will give our Defense a little breather.
I have confidence in our Defense. As long as they don't get tired, we will keep them under 20.
