Common Man Prediction Thread – UT vs Beep Beep UTSA

thats kinda funny but I would put Wright at QB, RJ at the FB position and Bijan at RH and Keilan at LH, my reasoning I dont want Bijan getting hit on every play....But didnt Texas line up  in basically a Wing T on Sat even though they shifted out of it...but seriously  I would run Bijan out of the I formation with Ro as his FB

The Veer for the win man. Liberty Hill High School ran it for years, nobody could stop it. 1-2 passes a game.

I saw the inception of the Wishbone because Coach Bellard's son Emory Jr was an all district QB at 26AAAA State Champ  Austin Reagan Raiders and he used Jr and his teammates to  run the formation at the park down up the street before he unveiled it to DKR...I used to sneak out to the park and watch, had no idea till much later what I had seen...but Reagan didnt use it, didnt really need to because they had and all state TB and all state FB on their squad ( won state 67,68, 70)

That may have been how LH ran it, but not what I experienced.

In '81 and '82, we ran the Houston Veer. I was the QB. Lots of option stuff of course, but we would do a lot of option pass – where the QB fakes a hand off to the FB and then drops back. We threw a lot for a team in the early 80s. First play of my QB time was a TD pass.

Our coach was a former QB at Rice, which was a good thing back then (see Tommy Kramer).

Used to watch Yeoman's Cougars with the Veer in the Dome, and also Jim Kelly and the Gamblers with the run and shoot. Good times.

Have to agree with Doc Longhorn. Does this team come out flat or ready to play. Don't let 1 lose turn into 2. The mindset has to be we are better lets show it.

Does the defense show up again this week like the past 2 weeks and does the special show why it's called special teams. Can Wright/Card do what os needed from the QB position? Sure

Texas:  45

UTSA:  17

Reading some of the posts above made me think of Brennan Marian's GO-GO offense. That would be a surprise to the UTSA defense.

A lot depends on the quarterback situation but I'll make a prediction anyway.

Texas 31 - 17 UTSA

Even with a healthy Ewers I don’t think we blow out UTSA. They are very well coached and way more talented than we give credit. This is going to be a big dogfight. We need Traylor to take the Colorado job this winter with how often we play UTSA coming up.

Very very nervous for an upset.

Texas 24

UTSA 21

After watching the highlights of UTSA vs Army, I think this game will be closer than I thought previously.

Harris does look pretty good and Cephus and Franklin both had ten catches for over 100 yds. We know how big this game will be for them, so there's that.

I don't think we have to match the level we placed against Bama (though I would love to see it), but we can't be sloppy either. Their db's look vulnerable, but the X factor will be our injuries and quarterback play.

Texas (Wright On!) 31

Chaparrals (meep meep) 21

This game scares me. We need a good defensive effort since our QBs and star RB are probably out.

Lol!  Hard not to like the veer, however if we implemented it there would be mad dash by our receivers for the portal.

I think everyone is overthinking this game.  UTSA Is MUCH better than ULM and the natural human tendency is to let down after the war with Bama.  And believe me it was a war.

However, UTSA ain't UT and neither is Army or Houston.

Texas - 52

UTSA - 6

So no Ewers…..

if card plays, I think Texas wins 31-17.  Bijan goes off

If Wright and RoJo split snaps Texas wins 24-17.  Bijan and RoJo have big days on the ground.

UTSA will score some points early, but the defense buckles down in the second half.
