Common Guy Prediction Thread – UTEP

Since the gurus have their own prediction thread each week, I thought we'd start our own silly little exercise and have some fun.

First, let me get this out of the way  . .. . . We have absolutely no chance in this game. We're doomed. UTEP has us exactly where they want us – overconfident. Clever strategy and I'd imagine it may even spell a halftime lead for us.

But make no mistake. The whole thing is a set up. Trap game. Uggggh. 1-1 here we come.

Now, we can move on.

Lots of backups play in this game. Offense is not in sync, but scores anyway because no one can stop either of our TBs. I hope to see Kirk Johnson unleashed in this one.

Defensively, we're going to have our way. The new QB spells a run-pass threat which is probably the only chance they really had anyway. But I think we just have too much speed on defense for them to take advantage of much.

What say you, fellow common guy? lol

Not sure if I'm missing something in your post, but Charlie won a game at home against a team named Notre Dame. Not sure if you heard about it. 🤔🤔. Anyway 49-17 Horns.

i hate predictions and consider the propensity for making them - and betting on them - one of the hallmark features for what's wrong with the human animal.  why we can't just let things play out and see what happens really stumps me.

that said, i'm going to predict a disappointing game for us.  not necessarily a loss or even a close game, but i bet we are flat and we don't look like the team that played sunday.  another reason for that is resting injuries and playing youngsters to get them into the flow.

sunday, sports whizzes will be questioning if they should have said the positive things about us following the barn-burner just past.  but not to worry.  struggle is what makes you strong, and charlie has known the word strong since he was tiny.

This sounds about right to me. We won't be real happy with the final score but several of our starters sit.
