Anwar at Ob is reporting that an assistant coach basically back stabbed Herman during ou week. Was talking bad about Herman to Ash a former coach at Ohio State. Speculation is was Mehinger..

Mehinger is a dead man walking.

If he did, he should have been gone before now.

Fun fact if Herman fires Beck and keeps Orlando. Our offense is rated #15 in total offense and our defense is rated #105. Leave it to Texas to fire the 15th rated OC (which I agree) and then keep the 105 rated defense.?

I think it helps us. Helton had a relationship with him. Next guy probably doesn't. Helton, along with Graham Harrell, were making USC somewhat appealing again. GH is now on the market. Make your move Tom.

Agree. Tom is taking a huge chance with his own future if he keeps Orlando. He had better be right.

Did you notice the quotes from Malcom Roach yesterday? He said Orlando let them move out to the left shoulder of the tackle, which Roach said allowed him to get his sack on. They went from inside shoulder to outsider shoulder, inside being a 4i and outside being a 5.

If Orlando stays it really won't matter what the other changes are.. Hermon will be done after next season..

IMO, Orlando can stay if Saturday was an indication of things to come. Half the game we got out of the 4i and went to the 5. That indicates TO is open to change and hopefully – he saw the same things we saw – improvement in the pass rush.

Yep, but you never know about the new guy they hire. USC is an attractive job with a good AD.

Looks like the Helton news was a bit premature and possibly outright incorrect, but time will tell.

Multiple sources are disputing the report that Clay Helton is being fired as head coach at USC, according to Sports Illustrated's Pat Forde.

On Sunday afternoon, Trojans Maven's Adam Maya reported that USC is expected to announce Helton's firing on Monday. Forde later reported that no decision has yet to be made on Helton's future and it remains possible that Helton keeps his job.

Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel also added that the report by Maya is not accurate.

USC finished the year at 8–4.

Helton has posted a 40–21 record in his six years at USC. He led the Trojans to wins in the 2013 Las Vegas Bowl and 2016 Rose Bowl but lost the 2015 Holiday Bowl and 2017 Cotton Bowl.
