Coaching Changes-NCAA Football

I would not want to be a DC at any school that uses the hurry up offense. There is no way to be successful over time.
Ohh but haven't you heard? Aggy is a top tier program with unlimited resources. And don't forget next year is their year!

Liking the Pitt hire Darnuzzi. Seems like he could actually stick around more than a few seasons and build up the program. Gotta like a strong defensive mind running the program, sound a little familiar?

Sounding like Harbaugh to Michigan is pretty much a done deal. Which means the aggies will probably miss on Durkin.

Barring a complete catastrophe by the ags, they will get a DC before national signing day. Who are some legit candidates that could end up there? They've been going after the biggest names in college football and have reportedly been shut down. Is sumlin still trying to make a splash hire?

Sumlin has been promising a splash hire, but I don't see it. Foster, Muschamp and Venebales aren't going to happen unless something crazy goes down.

The two recent names being mentioned are John Chavis and Durkin. IMO both are a long shot. Chavis is just milking LSU for more money and waiting to make sure Les doesn't head to Michigan. Durkin is most likely headed to Michigan now that it looks like they will hire Harbaugh.

I'm thinking the options are now someone like David Gibbs, Greg Mattison or Clancy Pendagrast, Who knows after that? The whole thing is a mess.

I've also seen a report that Mattison will stay at Michigan if Harbaugh is their coach (Mattison was a DC under Jim's brother at Baltimore).

On a different note, Texas A&M trying to make a "splash hire", instead of hiring the best defensive coach available, represents everything bad about football.

That's what I was thinking they were trying to do. That whole program has a false sense of accomplishment. They are acting like all these big names actually wanted to go there. IMO they just need to get someone who is the right fit to rebuild their defense. It's going to be an uphill battle with no head coach to back them up on discipline issues and an offense with no ball control.

So glad Harbaugh is going to another team that I love.

Michigan D was pretty decent with Mattison at helm.  Too mad Michigan's offense couldn't produce enough points/1st downs to keep defense off the field.

I wonder who Harbaugh brings in as OC.

Has aggy not hired a DC yet? Splash hire? LOL

No decent DC wants to coach there because the D is constantly put under pressure with Sumlin's offense. And rumors drift all over the NCAA and word going around coaching circles (I hear) is that the program is in a mess. Few want to walk into a mess.

During a conversation I had with a close friend today that formerly sat on the board at aggy, he mentioned that additional funds were being sought for the DC position. He said that the "market" had jumped and cought them by surprise. I do not believe he is trying to pull one one over on me. He is honest in the directness of his statement. However, it lends itself to many further conclusions. Just about all do not reflect well on the state of things in College Station right now.
