Agree with you except going to Oregon State wasn't a lateral move. Going from the third or fourth best job in the Big10 to the bottom of the Pac 12 is a step down.
I've been reading around and Alvarez sounds like the boss from hell. He can get the Kevin Spacey role if they remake Horrible Bosses. Pat Forde said Alvarez is a bully and has a big ego. Also said Alvarez was known as the capo di tutti capi of the committee. Considering the committee had Alvarez and Tom Osborne TCU and Baylor didn't have a chance.
I don't blame Anderson for taking the Oregon State job. He built the program at Utah St and he goes to Wisconsin and he finds out that he's a glorified assistant coach with the AD as the behind the scenes coach.
It's bad enough to have your AD treating you like an assistant coach, but then the said AD doesn't support you in taking care of assistants as far as salary is really disgusting. I don't think Alvarez's ego could take a coach outperforming him. I would usually root for Wisconsin against Auburn since they are a SEC team, with the Godfather on the sidelines, I rather they lose.
Paul Chryst sounds like the best hire, even though I don't know how good of a HC he is. Since he's a former Badger assistant at Wisconsin, he will be use to it.

Agree with the step down, thought about that after writing my last post but was too lazy to change that comment.
Also, just heard on the radio that in Andersens initial press conference in Corvalis he actually said "we need to get our ducks in a row" which immediately pissed off beaver faithful everywhere! Solid.

Wisconsin can't keep coaches. Something poison there. I have seen it before elsewhere.

Looks like Chryst might dump Pitt to return to Wisconsin. Pitt possibly getting dumped by another "all in " coach. Just when Pitt seems to be improving on the field and with recruiting they have to start all over again. FYI my Pitt rant is in honor of my dad who is a Pitt grad. They are my second team after the Horns of course.

Darrell Wyatt, X-Texas WR coach, is interviewing at TAMU for their open WR coaching position.
This would suck as D Lodge would probably recommit to Aggies.

Wyatt was a good recruiter but a below average WR coach. Lodge isn't going back to A&'M regardless of who they get, Sumlin pretty much called him out. That's a done deal. Wyatt's project on the 40 acres was Mike Davis and all he did was regress.

It's being reported by Pat Forde and ESPN that the UH is interested in Tom Herman. That would be a good hire.

I don't understand this narrative. He's a decent recruiter but nothing special. Maybe I'm missing something but a bunch of people treat him as some type of recruiting god.
In 2012 he landed Kendall Sanders. He missed on his other two targets in DGB and Thomas Jefferson.
In 2013 he landed Meander, Oliver, and Warrick (granted Oliver committed because of Mack). He missed on Robbie Rhodes, Dannon Cavil and Sebastian Larue.
So all in all Wyatt landed us 4 WRs that haven't really done a thing. He didn't land one high end WR. The best WR he landed was Foreman and he was apparently looking around while Mack/Wyatt was still on the staff.

Our special teams are a joke and I know first-hand Chambers wasn't exactly tearing up the DFW recruiting trail.

Texas recruiting is already bananas - but now with Hermann and Morris at Houston and SMU respectively - things are going to get even more crazy. Keeps those Florida connections active Coach Strong.

The new rumor is Durkin and Mattison as CO-DC's.
That's what you have to do when you miss on all the tier 1 and 2 candidates. It will be interesting how that impacts Malik if true, because Hagen would likely be the odd man out.

I wouldn't be a fan of Co-DC's normally. However, I like the mix of youth and experience of those two. Mattison may be old, but his resume is stacked. Durkin is the up-and-comer and has had experience at two strong defensive schools. Only stop they have both worked together is at Notre Dame, so I am not sure how close they are. Sure, we missed on some of the top candidates, but adding 2 DCs with top 20 defenses in 2014 seems like a nice consolation prize and a step in righting the ship.
