SignUp Now!100% agreed.he can do a tremendous amount of good in that role if he chooses to. it is a very big mistake to be vindictive or continue to attack him. he is doing the right thing, no matter how hard it might have been.
Disagree. Mack needs to stick around and be the fundraising dude. He'd be killer at that, not to mention he still has super great relationships with high school coaches all over the state. You don't want someone like that to simply walk away.Great news except for the hanging around part. He needs to leave and not meddle
In fairness, I believe Chip was just making it official.I'm cancelling my OB subscription over this dynamic. They are so far behind on these things its not even funny.
How is it more official when they report it than when McPhaul, Shaunsters, etc reports it?To those who are saying OB is so behind... I wholeheartedly disagree with you. They are the first to report it OFFICIALLY. It's one thing for a site to say it's gonna happen, whereas it's completely different to report it officially. OBs does a fantastic job, and they still manage to maintain their integrity.

It means nothing. It's a figure head position. He'll probably help fundraise.very curious as to what this means, and how much power he will have
FIFYReassigned to a INsignificant position in the athletic department.
I'm thinking this as well. He'll be great at it.FIFY
He'll be a fundraiser/gladhander. Nothing more. Think "Manny Diaz"
Don't be so insecure, people know that THIS site broke this (specifically Mack stepping down) and it will grow your prestige and credibility. How is it more official when they report it than when McPhaul, Shaunsters, etc reports it?
Others might be able to report smoke, rumors, and salacious gossipy stuff. The simple fact is that Chip reports as a legitimate media member. There is a difference in the standard of proof from sources as well as credibility beyond the blog worlds.
I don't think that would work with Saban and Mack. Can you imagine the tension?FIFY

Totally agree with this. We all know it was hard to step away, hell it would have been for any of us. But Mack is Mack and he will be great for the University for years to come. Plus he and sally will be able to rest in the mountain air of NC much more now, not a bad thing at all.he can do a tremendous amount of good in that role if he chooses to. it is a very big mistake to be vindictive or continue to attack him. he is doing the right thing, no matter how hard it might have been.
Guys, do y'all realize how many former Texas football HC's are associated with The University? I think it's 3 or 4. The position is NOTHING more than fundraising and gladhanding.I don't think that would work with Saban and Mack. Can you imagine the tension?

That they tied it to the BOR makes it ridiculous as the BOR cannot discuss anything not on the published agenda.<header class="tweet-header" style="display: block; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 300; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 20.5625px; orphans: auto; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(249, 249, 249);">https://twitter.com/SportsCenter
