After reading that article I called and cancelled my account after 9 years.
I replied to that thread just mentioning the tease was a letdown and most of that info had been reported elsewhere weeks ago and Ketch banned me. no shit.

Been a poster on that site for at least a decade. Some poster also claimed Im going around posting OB has cut a deal with Steve Hicks. I suspect it was prob one of Ketch's troll accounts, and funny enough I wasnt the one who posted that!

Wow they are sensative over there right now. So you are going to just blow out decade long posters because they question your product and point out the info is old?

Will check with Rivals, but Im not paying a dime more. They should give me a refund for the unused months but I doubt it

Hope you didnt get the boot too Baghorn. Its being claimed over there your post in this thread was posted by me. Hilarious stuff

I agree 100% that most of this backlash is warranted due to the unneeded build up of the report. But I thought this site wanted start a culture of not bashing the other sites. I get calling out the tease but it's starting feel like piling on a little bit... just saying.

Loved the part where defensive ketch says "that hey they are up some 400 new subscribers and are at an all time high" That is great but the 100 longtime posters/insiders that have left more than out way the 400 newbies in terms of what they bring to the board. So in fact they have become an inferior site and even though they are making more money they must be feeling the effects of the defections or ketch would not have acted like he has this week in a couple of threads.

Man It is nice to have this place to come to and be free to have and opinion.........

90% of that "special report" is available by a Texas Public Information Act request. anyone here could have gotten it.

Wow Dizz, sorry to hear that. I'm pretty close to banning myself from posting over there anyway based on the way things are developing. Which is a shame as I've been a member of that site going back to TheUniversity.com days. Oh well, this board is a better fit for what I'm looking for in a Longhorn message board. I really appreciate the tone and example McPhaul is setting for this board.

I agree but some of us have been around this site for years and the tone you speak of has been here since day one. That's why The Dude started the site and why most of us joined in the early days.

I just renewed but probably will spend my money elsewhere or concentrate on this site next time around. Not for sure but I don't see the value of spending $100 on something I can get for free just minutes later.

Baghorn,Several weeks ago on OB's there was a controversial mix-up with a poster on OB's named "shicks" making a threatening post towards a couple of insiders, namely McPhaul and El Machico, with the latter then receiving a not so nice email. It was revealed that the post was in fact BOR member Steve Hicks, which was confirmed by Ketch. I'm sure you recall that incident.

Question: Given what you wrote above, is it possible the OB Mod's were behind that "incident" as a way to scare of insiders like McPhaul and El Mahico from posting inside info? Like their way of controlling the message. The insiders at that time were getting a lot of attention and kudos and not sure the OB mods were liking that very much.
Hey dallashorn, I doubt the OB Mods were behind the incident. I think all of this was more fall out from the incident than a pre-meditated plot. However, after the incident McPhaul moved over here permanently (glad he did) and his reports have remained consistent. El Mahico stayed there and the tone of his reports immediately shifted to "Saban is off the table" and he began trumpeting alternative candidates like Harbaugh. Yesterday, he posted that John Harbaugh is the new leader. That all lines up with the expected smoke & mirrors misdirection plays that have been anticipated to take the focus away from Saban so he can play out his remaining games at Alabama with minimal distraction. I have no idea whether El Mahico is simply passing along misinformation he's being fed or is intentionally helping out. It doesn't matter really and I have no problem with what they're doing because it does help in achieving our ultimate goal of landing Saban. Chip's article last night was meant to be a peeling back of the onion skin to reveal the degree of rot and dysfunction that set into old Bellmont and it's intent is to build support for the massive changes Patterson is about to begin implementing.

Orangebloods is viewed as the only Longhorn message board with the kind of visibility that can move the needle. So, it makes sense for that site to be targeted specifically for controlling the message...and I say that in a good way...or, at least, as good as controlled messaging can be. The right intent is there although a lot of people naturally react negatively to any form of perceived manipulation.

I suspect the original Shicks incident was prompted by the Hicks brothers being blasted by Saban for all the leaks and not knowing how to "hire a coach". However, it's not the Jesus Shuttlesworth stuff or even the insiders info that Saban was frustrated with...that stuff is all well below the radar of the mainstream. What bothered Saban was the AP report that was leaked by Wallace Hall and the subsequent fall out from that report. Everything that's been reported with any credibility on a national basis was about the attempt to hire Saban last year. There have been no mainstream media articles with any direct factual information about the current effort to land Saban. In fact, most of the mainstream stuff has been of the Op/Ed variety stating all the reasons Saban would NEVER leave Alabama. Which is good for us.

First- let me say this site is a breath of fresh air as a Longhorn fan.

Second, not bashing the competition as I've been an OB subscriber since 2003. But- am just about ready to cancel over there.

Reasons?-Way too much of posters "eating their own" when certain info is posted (like the 5 pages on Chip's report. I mean, come on.

Too little timely, significant info other than some recruiting news. Lack of civility at times and too often, an over-defensive nature with the Mods.

Frankly, the best info and reason I stayed on board were the nuggets from certain insiders.....who have now moved over here. And are still coming it appears.

hey- understand they have a business to run and certain info is very sensitive. But have heard too much of "we have 400 new subscribers, etc"

when posters take issue or ask questions. If I got uber-defensive everytime one of my clients made a complaint, I wouldnt have that many.

That's because my business has numerous worthy competitors. Customer service, listening and delivering pro-active tools for client satisfaction is mandatory.

Keep up the good work here guys. You're doing things right in a changing online sports landscape....and certainly have energed at the right time :)

You are one of the best posters on this board. Thanks.
