1. Powers and only Powers will have say in regard to Mack Brown(Powers wants Mack back)

2. Powers has told Patterson to stand down on Mack.. (Basically Patterson has no power)

3.Powers will stand in the way of Saban due to Hall & Hicks going behind his back..

4. Mack told coaching staff he is coaching in 2014

If this is all true Powers needs to be let go now..He is putting his interest in front of the University..

Sounds like what you'd hear from Mack's people.

Not buying any of it. IMO, it's fodder for public consumption so it will appear Mack decided and was not forced out. Even the most conservative journalist of all (Burton) is now saying the end is close at hand.

Couple this with Jamail today and it sounds like they are doing everything they can to bring Mack Brown back.

PR for this being Macks decision. Chip is being used again IMO Powers doesnt have that kind of power right now. He's very lucky he's still in office. He cant just push off Bob Rowling, Hicks etc and think he has total control of everything. Those people gave him political help to fend off Rick Perry. When push comes to shove he's not going to be able to steamroll over the powerful group pushing Mack out and hiring the new coach

I would like to remind everyone that Chip was the only who got the AD info correct..

Actually Chip had reported Luck was the guy and the only hold up was waiting for after the WVU game per request. He later changed to hearing it was Patterson just like IT did as well. No one really nailed it.

Chip has been wrong so many times and was used by Bellmont to an embarrassing level on the realignment mess that its hard to put much stock in to what he claims most of the time.

No he didn't, he was saying it was Luck too. He got the jump on the Patterson news only because Orangebloods made a deal with Hicks to play ball in exchange for a heads up on breaking news of that nature so he got the first call. The difference between Chip's sources and Darrell's sources are Chip's sources use him to manipulate the situation....Darrell's sources provide him with what they know...or think they know. You have to put a filter on anything coming from Chip...or Orangebloods in general at this point.

I agree with all of this. What Chip is "reporting" is no different than what he has been saying for the last 3 weeks. This leads me to believe his sources are the old guard.

You also have to consider Mack may not even have much of a staff left by the end of a week or two. IT is reporting Major has a deadline to take the Florida job. There is talk of several others on the way out.

Im not sure what they would do concerning the bowl game with guys looking to get hired on elsewhere during this hiring period knowing Mack is stepping down

Mack has been given a deadline by the BMD. Bill Powers prob wants to act like he's in full control but he's not IMO

Chip's an idiot. I don't believe a single one of his points. That's some of the thickest smelliest $hit to come out of OB in quite some time......and that's saying a lot.

I'm trying to understand how exactly our brand new AD would not have any input into shaping the most important and revenue generating coaching position/sport at Texas that falls directly in his dept. Not saying Patterson has control of who we hire, but I darned sure don't see how it's Powers that is running this.

Fire Powers? Now we are just getting silly.
