Chip Brown Teaser

LOL - this Chip guy is really hedging his bets. Tomorrow will be good or bad - that way I have both ends covered. He knows Jesus Shuttlesworth is coming with something and he's trying to make a show of pre-empting him.

Friends, the deal has gone down, it's just is coming down to the time(s) of announcing it - that's my take, anyway.

For better or for worse, I've heard from more than one person who would know that Powers legitimately feels Texas has the best coach in the country in Mack Brown. Powers likes the fact that Mack runs a clean program, wins with integrity and – perhaps above all else – loves what Mack does to help bring in money to the school.

I wish there was a do not like option

My question is did Hicks place Powers on the BoR agenda in order to send him a message? Or was this already planned?

I just threw up in my mouth. If that is truly the case President Powers has no business in making decisions within the athletic department.

If Powers believes that, then his head is pretty buried in the sand.

I have no doubt he believes it. Which game was it that Jesus said Powers thought our close win playing down to the opponent was just great and all the BMDs glared at him and basically told him when it comes to football he doesn't know shit? Kansas State this year?

This is why you don't have an egghead run your athletic department.

Wake me when chip breaks anything on this story. He's seemed a step behind for the last year and his sources seem just university related

The scary thing is I can actually believe Powers thinks this way. I usually dismiss Burton's reports but this may be true based on similar things Chip and JS have reported about Powers love of Mack.

Well, "the clarity" IMO is the departure of MB. Until that happens, it is a situation that needs clarity. I'm not sure this is the issue its being made out to be. We all knew that the key to it all was Mack's departure. All the work put into getting Saban is nothing until Mack steps down.
I've been assured that's highly probable to happen this week.

This could also be another confused moment as we've seen a few of those lately there.
If Mack hangs on just long enough to screw the deal up, I'll be very clear. I will intensely dislike *him*.

If he is the reason that we don't get Saban two years in a row, I don't know if many fans will ever forgive him.

if this is the case then the revenue that the football program generates will start to taper off as fans will be disillusioned by the product that is put out on the field and i am sure donations will also decrease- we all want to win and have a competitive program - you win , field a competitive team and the fans/donors will be happy

if the football program is competitive then you get a national audience - that helps a lot too - i am sure many have read the report of the viewrship ratings for our games this season vs some of the sec teams - quite alarming
