I saw how scared Malik was in the spring game. My hope is in the future we will have a whole roster of scared players like Malik Jefferson.  Cecil is still talking big after turning tail and running home after three practices.

He would be wise to quit talking until he proves something on the field. Although I don't think he can. Also he should get a guarantee  before he chooses a school that they will give him the number 3  so he won't get upset.

Been away for a few days so woke up to this story this morning.  I was very high on this kid mostly due to his mouth and attitude.  Funny how it comes back and bites later.

He apparently has a brother on the team, and he must be mortified. His brother is doing very well from everything that I have heard. I suspect he was brought up in a very different environment than Cecil.

Cecil, all the best to you. I hope that you find what you are looking for, as well as, success in life.

i don't think we should call a @19yr old kid names because he didn't follow through with his commitment.  we can all speculate about what happened.  we might even be right.  but, let's not forget, this is a business.  if you're in the red, you cut your losses and look for better opportunities.  he was also at a disadvantage in that his own family, people that he loves and love him, didn't support him, or at least that was the story.  when you have your own family in your ear speaking negatively, you can't help but listen.

i thought he was listed as 2nd string.  in my opinion, he was going to see the field at some point this year.

Does sound like he is pulled in directions by various family members who have not been supportive of him. Hopefully they will support him now. We will see if he can follow through on his talent and work to earn playing time at his next stop. Too bad he will have to sit out a season, but essentially will be a RS season I believe. However, won't he lose a season of eligibility with a transfer?

Cherry is a young man - not a kid. We use the word recklessly at times when talking about college-aged players, but it's a misnomer. I'm sorry he got bad advice from a never-do-well, absentee father.

But, the young man is a "poser" by definition.

He's got five years to play four, so yeah, barring a medical exception he's only got 4 years left.

I think some high school kids forget where the 'olds' are coming from. I believe that I was a freshman or sophomore in high school when we were at dinner with friends. Their son had just graduated from college and completed military training-helicopters. He was full of bluster and talk. My dad gave him one simple piece of advice. His mechanic was his best friend flying combat missions.

He told him that when your friend is flying, you go over them an extra time or two, just to be sure. The young man went down on Mother's Day just a few months after he got to Vietnam.

I grew up hearing about WWII, Korea, and knowing people who fought in Vietnam. It gives one a different perspective on responsibility at age 18.

since we're pulling out definitions, a kid is defined as a young person.

so i would have to disagree with your statement "calling him a kid isn't right either".  he is definitely a kid by definition compared to me.

i'm not clear on the beginning of your statement about yourself at 19 and in vietnam.  you'd still be considered a kid compared to the older service men/women.  what i think you're trying to convey is the situations you experienced.  yes, your experiences at war certainly is no place for someone so young.
