Oh, good grief. He probably doesn't like seeing Hager ahead of him on the depth chart.
Based on what I've read thus far, Cherry is ill-suited to play LB against spread passing teams. He's more of a traditional run-stuffer who'd probably be better off somewhere else. Let him go if his feelings are so easily bruised. Or get more agile.
Anwar said Cherry already told several people he is gone. The UT staff has trying to convince him to stay, but losing the argument. And folks back home are also telling him to leave.
I dont know if this info violates one of the board rules or not, but people probably want to know.

I have empathy for the kid, but didn't he have time to sort "homesickness" out before committing to UT?
Yeah, I know you don't know what you're missing until it's gone. I'm not gonna bash CFS either for this because he had plenty of FL boys stay with his Louisville program. To each his own.
Leave UT to transfer to USF? Not a good move, kid, unless you think you're at a competitive disadvantage here. Or you don't like the rules in place.

- Nothing is official. Cherry is still in Austin & a member of the team.
- The team hasn't practiced in pads yet. Today is the 1st day in full pads. This should suit Cherry's strengths as a player.
- Every year college freshmen around the country get homesick. Some leave, some stick it out. Let's see if Cherry hangs on for a practice in pads tonight & has the coaches and advisers in his ear today.

I dont think that fully accurate. See the first post with his tweet above -- Anwar says he has already told "everybody" he IS leaving (not maybe).
The hedging comes, I think, from the idea that Strong might still be able to change his mind and get him to stay (like Catalon last year).
He has also said this (take it down if you must) --
"There are people close to Cherry that never wanted him to attend UT. Remember, he was a UT commit. Now that things are tough, they're telling him "I told you so". Instead of suggesting Cherry stick it out, they're trying to help him transfer to another school. He's getting very bad guidance....."

From what I'm reading on various boards, this seems to be the biggest factor. Getting a lot of negativity from people in Florida just as Juan said in the post just above mine.

Not really something you can prepare for. I lived in the Austin area my entire life and when I graduated from UT I took a job in Florida. I never thought I would be the type of person to get homesick but I did. It's hell too. Someone just needs to tell Cherry to grind it out for a month and everything will be fine.
