The greatest part of all of this is that it isn't just pushing these guys to become better football players...it's pushing them to become better men. It's keeping them out of trouble, it's keeping them in class and they're getting incentives out of doing well in those classes. Charlie Strong doesn't want to be remembered simply as a Coach who won Championships. He wants to be remembered as a Coach who molded men.

This much seems clear -- even though Patterson was away in Tempe and Portland, he was still following this program closely.

Before he was even asked to interview in Austin, he already had a well formed opinion of what was needed here.

Once hired, he immediately set out to fill that need.
