Cecil Cherry - Big Update

[HornSports Staff]

It was reported earlier today by Vols247 that 4-star ILB Cecil Cherry (Victory Christian Academy, Lakeland, FL) plans to decommit from the University of Tennessee soon.
Cherry (6-0, 232 lbs) visited Austin for the West Virginia game and left very impressed with the coaches, the facilities and the big win over the Mountaineers.

He's been receiving a lot of love from Texas fans lately and Cherry hasn't been shy about responding to the positive communication (just take a look at his twitter account - @cecil__cherry3).

We talked to Cherry late this afternoon and asked him the following:

HornSports: Is Texas your new leader (after you decommit from Tennessee)?

Cherry: Yes

Short but sweet, we know.....

We aren't sure when Cherry will contact Tennessee officially to decommit, but one thing is for sure: the Longhorns are now the front-runner for Cecil Cherry.

This is the first update I've seen that he comes out and says that Texas is his leader.

Between his stature and countenance, when I see a photo of Cherry, all I see is Rashad Bobino.

Looks similar, but Bobino was almost a midget. This guy has size and I think he's more of a wrecking ball than Bobino was.

Very good stuff....

If he can stay 'violent' on the field, even though he'll be under-sized in college, he'd be a good get.

Read that as "he'd be a good pet"...

Long week?
