Wickline, Watson, and Robinson all gone after Baylor. So Strong will have fired his entire offensive staff in two years. Yet he is immune to the same outcome. Again blame everyone else is in full affect.

Well it comes down to why those coaches were still here after 2014?  Specifically Watson.

So now we have BMD's putting their hands in.  Impatient?  Probably.  Lack of trust in Charlie's decision making?  Definitely.

We heard all spring how much the offense had improved.

Was it the BMD's blocking Charlies view of the offense at every practice this past spring?  How else did Charlie not see it?

Maybe it was Mack blocking his view  ;)

DMAC knows how to find a point, for sure. Good post.

The telling thing here is the past offseason when we were told we were changing up the offense. And then we show up this season looking just like last year's offense, even with the same TE playing QB, and getting an even worse result.

And Charlie acted totally surprised to learn, from media members apparently, that his offense had not changed a bit.

How do you explain that? Seriously. What collection of words can make this make sense?

Weren't they only under 2 yr contracts? This is no surprise tho.....Norvel and Traylor are still under contract because they came on-board later

Who is the one doing the blaming here?  You've said this several times - but who are you talking about?

Do you think he doesn't need to replace those positions?  I mean, I know you think Strong should be fired - but they aren't doing that - so is he supposed to just keep those guys on?
Why fired coaches if the talent is not good? Isn't that what the excuse is? So Strong gets a pass because Mack left a crappy program but the assistant coaches do not.

I don't see anyone giving Strong a pass.  I suggest you give this link a click:  http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nuance

Regardless of the talent level - Watson couldn't deliver the offense requested and Robinson couldn't recruit Houston.  Their contracts are not being renewed.  I'm under the impression that Wickline wants out.

Better not get rid of Traylor unless you want the wrath of Texas H.S. coaches.

Traylor is one of the most disliked Texas High School coaches among other HS coaches. Strongs first choice was Surratt from Carthage. He declined.

I have not heard this and I have kept up with his time at Gilmer.  What I have seen is one's success over time tends to make people jealous, just read Smoaky.com and you will see that Gilmer is not well liked.

Also, Traylor and Gilmer always got accused of recruiting players.  Maybe he did or didn't, people want to play for a winner.

From where did Gilmer "recruit" players and how?

I've been to Gilmer and can't say there's much to entice somebody to move there. Do they have open enrollment?

Yes J.B., Gilmer has an open spot for you as a starting deep snapper next season. I could tell you were afraid to directly ask.

I don't know for sure if Gilmer recruited players.  People on Smoaky were always quick to say Gilmer was recruiting.  A good example was the Lynch kid that went to Baylor.  He was at Troup prior to enrolling at Gilmer.  I don't know all of the specifics, just pointing out why some people feel negative toward Gilmer.  Traylor was Gilmer for 15 years.

Recruiting High School players ,  hell that is exactly the type of High School Coach we need on the staff !!!!!

So much truth to this.

I live in Allen.  So many schools hate Allen with a passion and for valid reasons.  Allen refuses to split into 2 schools so they can keep all the talent on ONE football field.   Allen sacrifices education for football glory.  The school is ridiculously over crowded.  But hey build that stadium  ;)

The president gets to fire his entire cabinet. It's just the way the game is played.

I have never heard of a head coach getting fired because the alumni's loyalty to an assisstant coach. Charlie's ass is on the line if he doesn't right the ship. As far as I am concerned, he can shuffle his assistants every year if he gets it right.

I agree there is reason to question Coach Strong's judgment when it comes to hiring assistants, but I really have never questioned his decision to fire any of his staff. So far, I'm more in the camp of his not firing enough of them.
