Burnt Ends (1-12)

Last I heard the location is still up in the air.

There is a tug of war going on, city wants it to be as big or bigger while some want it smaller to make for a better basketball arena . ..
I can't see building it smaller if we're using public funds for this arena. ATX has concerts and many other events other than UT hoops to consider. Tough balancing act because I don't know if UT has any land of its on to build on. I'm sure a compromise will be reached.

Hell, the Louisville model for their Yum center is a good place to start!

Assuming the reports on OT Desmond Harrison are correct, that makes the info on Drew Richmond easier to understand.

Not sure I understand. . . Harrison is a Sr so he's gone regardless. . . same for Riser (think he's a senior)

Richmond isn't really impacted by him.. . . . .

Richmond is a flat out take all the way  . . . .more a replacement for Lefelor (sp?) and Weathersby.

Did I miss something? What is the info on Drew Richmond that is easier to understand?

From Burnt Ends:

We asked a team source if there is a recruiting target still on the board that the coaching staff viewed as a top priority. The answer we got was Memphis University School offense tackle Drew Richmond.

Given the play at tackle and the musical-chairs-depth chart along the entire line, it didn’t come as a huge surprise to hear our source name an OT. As much as the coaching staff has talked up the benefits of open competition in practices, adding another body along the line makes total sense.

At the other end of the spectrum, Joe Wickline has steadily loaded this class up with players that fit the mold he prefers in a lineman. With three tackles already in the class, including a JUCO player, it was a bit surprising to hear our guy name yet another lineman.

So we asked the logical follow-up question to find out if it was Richmond or the depth chart that made him such a high priority. His answer?

“Both. The young man’s talent is so good that the staff thinks he competes to start at OT as soon as he’s on campus. Mix that in to the issues on the line, and he’s a definite priority.”

Agree that DR is a take all the way. If Harrison is not returning for another season of eligibility, then OT depth takes a blow.

It's quite possible that Richmond would make the 2-deep. Hate to see first-year OL guys not be able to shirt, but it's almost a guarantee in 2015.

I had already read that. I thought you were talking about something else.

And I've got to believe that the coaches were going after Richmond regardless of what Harrison's status was. He's a take no matter who you have on your team.
