We were told that Shane is going to try and practice today (Thursday) as his shoulder is feeling better.  No word on whether or not he will play on Saturday against San Jose State, it is still very premature to make that call, but the bruised shoulder is something Buechele may have to play through until it heals completely.

We will update you when we hear more.

Any indication whether Sam is going to take same snaps even if Shane is starting, Aaron?

IMO, if Herman is as smart as we think he is, he starts Ehlinger.

It's Thursday and Buechelle hasn't taken a snap all week. Now we hear its a bit better but that he's going to "try" to practice.

We're two days from kickoff. You can't run this offense with a bum shoulder and even if you could, you risk injuring Buechele even more just before we face USC.

We can beat SJSU without Buechele and we should.

Couldnt agree more.

It's evident from all my posts over the last few days that I'm on the relax and let Shane grow camp but you have to get Sammy ready.

Several schools including atm and Maryland lost their starting QBs for the season and or long extended periods.

Texas can't afford to go 5-7 again or I'm affraid you guys will burn DKR to the ground.

Let him play and get him the experience he needs.

Yes, aggy lost their starting QB for the season. And you saw how effective the back up was/is. Ironic as it might seem, but Hubenik is their hope right now. lol

To make matters worse, they lost a starting safety for the season. Can't recall his name but apparently he was one of their best defensive players.

I have no problem letting Shane grow. But I think if you play him injured when you don't have to, you're not very wise.

What would you think about going into USC with only Sam and Heard available? That would be very bad.

I'll be surprised if Ehlinger doesn't get a decent amount of snaps in Saturday.
How many snaps would you consider "decent"?  I thinking that considering the opponent that Shane doesn't play at all.  And if we manage 60 offensive snaps, then Sam should get at least 40 of those snaps...

PURE SPECULATION

Watching the game Saturday I thought Buechelle was hurt, and possibly slightly concussed, when he was blown up at the goal line on the first offensive drop back for Texas.  Maybe it really is his shoulder.  Maybe both his brain and his shoulder were injured.  Just my opinion.

Sam is not ready to run the offense.  Here's a thought:  Don't run the offense.  Run what Sam can run.  The stupid play is to attempt to have him run what he has not mastered.  I think Sam is a winner and tough.  That will show if he is given the chance to succeed.  If he cannot run enough of the offense to succeed then play Heard.  Same drill for Heard.  Run only what he is capable of.

Pretty sure it was D. WIlson they lost. He was their version of Locke. Big loss for that defense. Not sure when he went out, but it could explain how Rosen was able to shred them in the 4Q.

If it was Locke he would have shredded the defense the entire game with Locke in there....sorry couldnt resist

Looks like Shane ended up not throwing again today.

They may not say it, but at this point I expect Ehlinger has took all the reps this week. Can't miss a week of prep and expect to start on Saturday.

Maybe they know Sam will start but want SJSU preparing for both. I mean, we got trucked by Maryland so who knows.

So a hypothetical for ya, say Sam comes out and throws for 400 yards against a SJSU team with little errors. Do you play him against USC even if shane is ready or "doesn't count" cuz it's SJSU? Im gonna say if that happens they'll still play Shane the following week but does help the QB competition
