Brewer from Tech transferring

I'd careful for what I was wishing for and a transfer from Tech is not one of my wishes. Allot of issues- both procedural and quality of individual would need to be identified and worked around. On top, like Ash(concussions) - he is probably one hit away from being out of football due to the disc issue in his back .

Yep, Tech's QB recruit for this year is probably going pro in baseball too. Tech might only have one scholarship QB next year, unless they pick up a transfer or late recruit.

I thought Gilbert graduated extremely quickly and enrolled in graduate school at SMU, and that's how he played immediately—not a medical hardship. Am I wrong?
You are not. Gilbert graduated from UT in 3 years.

Dad is a great guy, got to visit with him and asked him about his son. . .his comment. . .he can go to any of 3 schools. . .TEXAS. . .TEXAS. . .TEXAS
Understand the son wanting to take his own path but great opportunity for him here. . . .
I hope that Tech can't block him from coming here. That would be chickensh$t of them to do that.

I think he did received a grey shirt but wont take it. Maybe??
As I recalled. . he took the greyshirt then de-committed. . .

Not a biggie to me . .

Depending on Ash's status. . .I'd love to see Brewer and Swoopes battle for the #1 spot with Heard shirting . . .

he's graduating in May. not sure a Big 12 restriction would apply since he'd be a grad student, but will admit i don't know for sure.
he'd be a nice guy to have on the team IMO.
This is correct I believe. Since he's graduating, he's not subjected to transfer restrictions.

From DMN:

@ChuckCarltonDMN: Per source, former Tech QB Michael Brewer will not be allowed to transfer to another Big 12 school under NCAA and conference rules.

I don't think TT can block a grad student. Would be a huge get. Great opportunity for him to compete for the starting position with a new coaching staff. Great for us whether he starts or is the primary backup as that would allow heard to rs.

Has Brewer ever really played at Tech? dont get me wrong we need the depth but I don't think he's a cure all.

Definitely, I like Heard and Swoopes but I think Brewer would be my leading QB candidate going into the 2014 Season.
What if Ash is healthy? Does he backup Brewer? New regime, guess they can decide who fits the scheme best.

Mayfields waiver application was denied so he isn't going to ouSuxx. He may be back at Tech if he can work things out with KK

ESPN reporting he's going to OU regardless of Tech's decision. He's willing to give up the year to make the switch.

As for Brewer, would love to have him. We need depth at QB desperately. I do not believe Brewer would unseat Ash, but on the other hand I really wonder how far into the schedule Ash can make it.

Obviously we're playing a what if game here but I'd say even if Ash is healthy, I'm concerned with putting the young man out on the field. He may have the physical ability to play. But I think that ability is diminishing with every hit he takes. I hate to say that about a kid. But yes you're right, only the coaching staff will know which guy is best for the system right away.

This would make for an awesome storyline in say 2015 if both the Oklahoma and Texas Quarterbacks starting in the Red River Rivalry game were former Texas Tech transfers.

Even if they both end up on the two teams, Mayfield won't be starting for OU with what Knight did against Alabama. And probably unlikely Brewer would be starting unless Ash was still having concussion issues. But we could still see it happen, when UT is up 42-0 in the third quarter and the reserves are put in! :D
