BIG Mack Brown- NOT GOOD

Negotiating tactic. Mack is going to ask for the moon and then take less. If he were to coach through 2020 he'd make around $34.5 million. So why not ask for that right now? Texas isn't going to pay it and obviously don't want him back. But it's 12.5 times what the buyout is. What does he have to lose? Get something like $10 million on your way out the door and be done with it.

To me, if the BMDs that are driving this bus are close enough to Saban they aren't going to let Mack screw this up. So it will work itself out one way or another. Just know that he's gone. The rest of it will work itself out. Guys like Hicks, JBM and Rowling have ways to make people come to their way of thinking. That's why they have all been as successful as they have been.

fire his ass. done with it.
Mack has stolen $22M the past 4 years which comes to $733K per win during this time. I'm glad he built the program back up and helped unify the alumni etc. but he's not really entitled to more than the already very fair buyout and cush job as the DKR replacement. ESPN has him on their radar per Darrell as well. If true this is highly disappointing, but not necessarily surprising

the whole asking for more money or a larger severance while being pushed out says a lot about the man. he made his expectations and knew what was on the other side of failure- he needs to be fired and given what he signed and not a penny more.

this isnt the time to negotiate. there is zero leverage.

His leverage appears to be --

(a) Powers in his pocket; and

( B) being able to cause just enough of a time delay that the Saban to Texas window would close.

Mack has some leverage as he doesnt want Saban to follow him. The BMD dont want to let Mack F that up

so Mack wants more money and will fight for it. JS has just confirmed this as well. The pressure is on Bill Powers to not mess this up and it looks like the BOR meeting tomorrow is a shot across to the bow to him. Powers has given Patterson the green light on Saban

Is absolutely NOT making this easy. Just wait until you hear the numbers of the deal Mack is trying to garner on the way out.
I've said it before, Mack Brown is the only individual with the ability to control how he will be remembered by the UT fans and alumni. He alone will write his legacy.

He will make far more money in the next chapter of his career if he leaves with the good will of the UT fans and alumni than if he leaves a reviled figure.

Guys,

Let it all play out. What McPhaul posted is true! and he is simply keeping you up to date as far as what is happening behind the scenes. Thank you, McPhaul, for doing that. That being said, Mack is simply using every last ounce of leverage in this situation to gain as much money as possible. In the end, he is the only one that might lose as the threat of termination is on the table. However, it will not come to that. He will be payed quite handsomely and go quietly in to that good night and will not need to be terminated; he has too much to lose to force the termination. The information that came out yesterday was leaked for a reason; the screws are slowly but surely being tightened, and Mack is fighting for himself. That is what he is doing. However, it will be over very soon, and we will all be happy (including Mack).

^^^ This is true. Mack SHOULD realize this and move his things over to ESPN and move forward with life.

It's like they say about hookers. Youdon't pay them for what they've done. You pay them to leave.
Unfortunately he wants to get paid and then stay and hang around in the living room.

The number of smart accomplished people who think we "owe" Mack something is astonishing.

This is not going to end well I'm afraid
I hope it doesn't. I've been sick of Mack for years. It galls me that he would hold my school hostage. Just fire his underachieving ass and be done with it.

I'm fine with letting Mack show his ass to the world. Soon everyone will realize how much of a fraud he is.
This. His incompetence has been oozing for years and at $5.4m per!! We are fed up with it (his incompetence) and he is denying it (his incompetence) by acting like this (a teenager).

Auburn fired Chizik 2 years after a Natty... Just sayin'... 4 years is enough
Actually it's been 4 years since we went to the dance, almost 9 years since we won the crown.

Enough is enough, Mack.

Shades of Kim Mulkey --

"My feeling is this, if a man wants to divorce me and says our relationship has no value to him, and then he asks me if he can sleep with me, the answer is, 'No!'

Joe Jamail everybody.
My thoughts exactly. I think there is a clause in there that he gets to work for the University after his coaching days are over. The f**k wad probably had Joe go over it and found some gray areas.

Mack has turned himself into a cancer. He needs to be completely removed from the program.
