Definitely going with West Virginia in their win over Marshall and Oklahoma State in their win over Savannah.
West Virginia has a high octane offense, as we all knew, but the impressive stat in this game was Geno Smith's incredible completion rate. He was 32/36 for 323 yards and 4 touchdowns. Throw in a ground game that racked up 334 on the ground and I would say it was a successful opener form Holgorsen and crew. Now, Marshall is not OU (might need to replace them in this statement after how crappy they looked last night), but they are not exactly a doormat team either. Great showing for the Mountaineers in their inaugural Big 12 game. They without question have established themselves as the top team in the Big 12 during week 1 (Baylor and TCU have yet to play their first games).
I won't lie. Oklahoma State surprised the hell out of me. Yeah they played Savannah State, but the threw down and 84 spot on the Tigers. Yes, 84. They shut them out to boot. Gundy should be utterly ashamed of himself but I guess that is how he rolls. With Weeden gone folks wondered what the qb carousel at Ok. State would look like. They played three guys, with Walsh and Lunt getting most of the snaps (and Chelf getting a few "gimmee" snaps. The trio threw collectively for 287 and 3 td's. The qb performance was not the news. Teh news was the RUNNING BACK PLAY. The Poke running back crew scored 9 TD's. Yes, 9. Oklahoma State has to show me more than that for me to give them consideration for a top team in the league this year but they played well. Much metter than I expected.
