Baylor releases 5 players from NLI

transferring to a JUCO so he can transfer anywhere
my impression is that's the whole point.  unless my understanding is even more flawed than i realize, he could transfer to oregon immediately, if that's his choice, and sit out the '16 season while practicing with the program, players, and coaches he wants to join.  by going juco for '16 he can transfer to a big12 school.

my bet is he wants to play for briles and will take over from mayfield.

on one of the baylor boards i saw speculation that briles and stidham might be headed for aggyland.  two reasons i don't think so.

1) as i said earlier i see no reason to sit out a year at a jc if he wants to transfer out of conference, so i assume he's headed for one of the b12 schools . . . that no doubt hasn't informed its present staff if, indeed, stidham is bringing briles with him.  if i've got it wrong that there's no advantage to sitting at a jc for an out-of-conference transfer, somebody please set me straight on that.

2) i don't think a&m can replace sumlin for several more years because of that buyout.  if the braintrust there has shot its wad trying to fire sumlin - and can't - then i bet their days of meddling in the program are done.  we may yet see how good sumlin is.

'nother thing, speaking of money.  how is baylor going to pay off that stadium and buy the necessary tarps?  i hope they don't default on that thing.  i don't know what effect - if any - that might have on other conference schools expanding their stadia in the nearish future.
