Baylor releases 5 players from NLI

Anyone have more info on this and how it will play out?

"As it stands, Texas has only one available scholarship, although, should signees Marcel Southall or Erick Fowler ultimately fail to qualify academically, more scholarships would become available."

This isn't true. There are walk ons that have scholarships which won't be renewed if we need more room.

Sounds like Hudson is meeting with Turner this weekend.  I wouldn't count the Aggies out of this one.  He is a former Aggie commit.
Sounds like A&M and Baylor are offering Hudson's sister a track scholarship. Texas isn't. Which I have no problem with.

Based on other reports it sounds like Hudson wants to be at Texas but that's the only hold up.

Higdon at Scout and Andrew King at Football Brainiacs are still confident in Hudson to Texas.

OB thinks we have 3 or 4 spots

But, IT thinks we have 5 spots.  They are assuming at least one medical redshirt, plus normal attrition.

There is a dead period beginning June 27 (Monday)

The next contact period begins July 11.

Texas begins the second summer session July 11

So, as long as this rule applies to these players, then any of the Baylor releasees who want to visit Texas before the dead period will need to do it this weekend.

and sadly, until the LOI release is in our coaches hands, they are not allowed to contact the releasee( doesnt sound right calling them recruits)

Ok can someone tell me this could his sister per se be a walk on..? As far as trying out for the UT Track team?

A&M in full desperation mode. Now you can see why they might offer his sister when they are this desperate.

Hamm: Pat just told me he's still debating. Not leaning one way or the other yet. A&M is still going to send the transportation anyways. Everything is set up, he just needs to get in the car.

Surely, reputable schools like A&M and BU will offer Hudson's sister a scholarship regardless of what decision he makes about his future. Right?

Something tells me Texas may offer his sister a schollie if Texas really wants Hudson and they know this

I don't think so. Texas finished 4th at the NCAA championships this year in both the indoor and the outdoor meets. They are building a national championship type roster. You only get 18 scholarships in track and field (including cross country). I don't think the track coach is going to take a random sister that wouldn't be getting these offers if it wasn't for her brother.

Texas should be above this type stuff, this is an aggie move.

This. Texas could have done this during the regular recruiting cycle and passed on her. Not likely to happen now.

It just makes me wonder what is going on behind closed doors. Yep me is nosey

I don't think Strong or any of the other head coaches opposite that way. I do think they are honest with recruits and work hard to get them but no deals are made.
