BASKETBALL: Elijah Thonas trims list, does Texas make the cut?

According to Evan Daniels at Scout.com, five-star big man Elijah Thomas has trimmed his list to 6. The 6 schools that made the cut are Texas A&M, SMU, UNLV, LSU, Illinois & Oklahoma St. Texas made his top 10 & was thought to be in good shape with Thomas. The 6-foot-9, 240 pound C currently attends Lancaster after also attending Prime Prep Academy & Rockwall. He is rated at the 17th best player in the nation by 247sports composite score.

Welcome to the forum.  Thanks for posting.  We need as many posters on basketball as we can get.

So, he cut his list to six schools, and Texas is not in the top six, but we are in good shape with him ... hmmm ... that makes a lot of sense.  Did we make the cut?  Apparently not.  I am not sure we want to be interested in anybody that went to Prime Prep, and Rockwall, and Lancaster. and ... but I guess the coaches will decide.  247's Crystal Balls show none for Texas.  Prime Prep players past and present are problematic.  I don't really know anything about his story.

Personally, I would rather see us go after Thon Maker in 2016.  According to some, he is the Numero Uno in 2016 and there is some talk about him re-classifying to 2015 where he would also be number one.  We might have an in with Maker because he trains with John Lucas and has become friends with Myles Turner through that association.  Another reason to recruit Maker is that he has a younger brother, Matur, in the 2017 class.  Of course, that does not mean that we would get either of the Maker brothers, but if we have a great year and Myles Turner has a great year ... well, then, you never know.

Well you can't win them all but this one hurts. I don't think it ever clicked for the Longhorns and Elijah Thomas. Reading interviews, he seemed sort of neutral towards Texas. Never enthusiastic. It happens but losing another Texas prospect hurts.

Yeah, but does it really matter.  Does it really hurt?  Put it in the context of Prime Time Prep and Dallas AAU.  Did Texas ever have any indication that they had any chance with this kid?  If we have a good year, will we not have "ins" with other power forwards?

Zane Ellis, lest this get lost in the midst of all of the bullshit, I seriously do appreciate your posting regarding basketball.  We do need more of this.  I probably responded out of context.  Your post, maybe because of the headline, seemed to me to be like an "Oh boy!" kind of post  Upon further review, I can see where it may not have been intended as such.  That being said all of my comments are still worthy of a response.  And I must say that it irritates the hell out of me when I make comments worthy of response that are not responded to!  Now, street and I usually get along with each other just fine, and I assume that we will once again ... I must say, however, that if he wishes, we can have a fiber challenge at any time, any place, first to make a run to the poop chute looses, his choice of fiber!  He can choose oats, chia, or whatever.  Me?  I will choose Rudy's fatty brisket!
