Jeff Ward talking today about possibility of putting the new basketball arena where Mike Myers Stadium sits. Interesting, hate to see a nice stadium dozed...lots of money flushed down the commode if that occurs. Any thoughts or knowledge on this?

Where will the track and soccer teams compete?

I'd rather the new hoops arena be adjacent to campus so it's easier for students to attend games.

Thats crazy. Solves one problem, creates two others. Hope that's not the end of the plan and that soccer and track end up with something just as nice or better.

Screw soccer and track. No interest...... if its on or off campus doesn't matter. Very few fans. Put them anywhere. Problem is, if we don't get rid of Barnes basketball won't matter either.

Texas Relays are a huge national event; whether you like track isn't really pertinent. The university dumped 20 million to upgrade the drum, and spent millions on Myers which is a great venue on campus. Just because UT has a lot of money doesn't mean they should waste it on a whim. I'm sure you would say screw swimming and golf too, but those teams are winning titles currently unlike the major men's programs. To each their own, but I say don't discount (or screw) other sports because they are not your favorite.

I like track, but if they are talking about putting the arena there, someone at UT doesn't. Though those sports may win titles, they don't make a dime, so the bigwigs don't care about them.
