My buddy and I will be heading to Austin in a few weeks for the first time for the TCU vs Texas game.  We are looking for some locals to help us navigate our two days in town.  We fly in on Friday around noon and leave Sunday.  A few things we would love some help with:

1.  What are the best spots to get some Texas BBQ  and few cold beers on Friday afternoon?

2. Where should we hang out Friday night?  Is 6th street the best bet? (We are in our mid-30s)

3. We love to tailgate!  Are there any common tailgate areas where all are welcome before and after the game?  If not, any other suggestions to take in the tailgate scene?

We take a trip to a random college game each year and have heard great things about Austin.  We are from Iowa and Ohio, so we are already thinking about the BBQ when we get there!  This is our sixth year of making this trip, so we are excited to see how the Longhorn's experience stacks up to the others!

Side note:  We always cheer for the home team!

Thanks in advance for the help!

The top BBQ spots are Franklin and La BBQ, but expect to deal with long lines. Some solid spots that won't be as busy are Micklethwait and Kerlin.

As for hanging out, you'll probably prefer Rainey Street to 6th Street.
