Yea, I'm going to sound like an old fart here but the Austin of the 70's blows the current Austin away. It's becoming a mini-Dallas to me.

Big fan of Austin, wife and I go there probably 5-10 times a year. But I couldn't live there.

Austin whenever you first got here was always better than Austin now.  But I still prefer to live in Austin than in Dallas or Houston, and I've lived in all three.  Population growth happens in most metropolitan areas, especially desirable ones.

Saw some stat the other day that said that Austin will be in the top 10 metro areas by population in the very near future.  Think about that for a minute. 

I'll just throw out a few that are up there.  Our little baby is all grown up.

DFW

Los Angeles

San Francisco

Philly

Houston

DC Metro

Atlanta

Miami

Boston

Saw some stat the other day that said that Austin will be in the top 10 metro areas by population in the very near future.

It's already the 11th largest city in the U.S. so the future may be closer than you think.
