Augie is out

Been thinking about this for the last couple of weeks and research..

Kevin O'Sullivan...

I hope it will be entirely up to new coach as to whether to keep Skip.

Rogers pretty much implying the next hire is someone that's probably going to make a deep run this year.

Couple of other things to watch..

#1 Texas will need to move as quick as they can to bring in the right guy

#2 First Year MLB Draft starts on June 9th concludes on June 11th

#3 Deadline for amateur draft picks to sign with the ball club that drafted them will be July 15th.

#4 CWS Begins on June 18th and runs until June 28th/29th

Texas needs to do everything that they can to keep this years class together. Mason Thompson, David Hamilton, Kyle Muller..

Donald,

I'm going to throw out a few things here

Texas can and probably will wait until after the CWS to announce a replacement.  I know it's cliche, but we are Texas, and this job will prove it's still one of the best with who we bring in.

Kids will be fine with who we bring in, and more than likely, elated.  The guys behind the scenes will do everything they can to keep this class in place, and I have 100% faith in those folks.  Everyone over there loves The University and only wants what's best for it.

I doubt a high profile coach would accept Texas job without being able to hire the staff they want. whether Skip would stay or not as just the pitching coach is unknown as is whether or not new coach would even want to keep anyone from old staff.

Your list should be

O'Conner (Virginia)

O'Sullivan (Florida)

Corbin (Vandy)

Make those three tell you 'No.'

If you whiff on all three, then you start looking at names like

Savage (UCLA)

Casey (Oregon St)

McDonnell (Louisville)

Next tier is

Tadlock (TT)

Hefner (Dallas Baptist)

Bakich (Michigan)

Some may ask about Schloss at TCU, but I don't think he is a good fit here.

I like Jewett, but there is no way UT hires an assistant coach for the head job.  Ain't happening.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that it is one of the top three I mentioned, and we don't have to get to the second tier guys listed.

The UT job is highly coveted in the college baseball world.

FYI, I have heard from a couple of folks that Augie will be done at the end of the season. Whether he pushes to complete his contract (through 2017) will merely dictate how much or little buyout he receives.

Kevin O'Sullivan is the name I'm hearing. Of course that could change, but that's the word as of now.

Guys,

It should be one of the following: O'Sullivan, Corbin, O'Connor or Casey.

Shouldn't go any further than that. It darn sure doesn't go to the assistant level.

Also, Tadlock just got an extension through 2022.

Start paying attention to contractors as well, to see if the fences get moved in per Slim's requests!

Just want to get this over here in one spot.  Read through the above.  Should be a good reference point for everyone.
