What's everyone's thoughts regarding Major returning tlas OC? Like the idea or no? Possible or no? I mean, the offense made tremendous strides this season so you could argue that he's not "needed". But I think Herman would be for it as he could completely hand the offense over without any concerns. Idk, I like the idea personally. What say you?

Possible just because Herman has worked with him before and they share similar offensive philosophies. They worked very well together when Herman was at the helm in Houston. Could be something to watch, but I wouldn't expect it.

Applewhite made a big mistake in hiring K Briles.
I agree 100%. But I wouldn't think that hire would have any influence if he were to be in consideration for a return as Briles definitely wouldn't come with him...

Agree. Should not affect getting hired at UT or somewhere else.

Didnt Major have an issue with a student that might be a red flag for the administration to bring him back?  Dont remember all the details, but I thought it was something with a student.

Yes. Had affair . Forgot the details.

He had an affair with a grad student.

I’ve never been really that impressed with his coaching ability. What do other people think?

From what I recall he had an affair and the administration was somehow aware of it but never punished him. Another female track and field coach, I believe, also had an affair with a student and was subsequently fired. She ended up bringing suit against the school for being biased in handling both situations and some thought that because of this the school would never employ him. Of course, this is all from my terrible memory and entirely oversimplified.

I recall the details that were published. At the time, people who generally bring you good information here, said he would never work here again.

Dont know myself. Seems like he is developing a pattern of bad judgement.

The track and field coach had an affair with one of her student athletes. Major had an affair with a grad student over whom he had no control.

That was the reason given for the discrepancy in punishment. I believe Major had to give up a raise he was due to receive.

I'd rather have Simms.   B)

I doubt Applewhite will ever coach at Texas based on his affair with the trainer. The fired track coach already used that in her law suit against UT. Can you imagine the outcry if Texas hired him back?

I just don't see it happening. Too much baggage.

It's a shame, but Major put himself in this position via his actions.

UT already settled the lawsuit. The track coach was Bev Kearney. If he doesn't get a job elsewhere, I see Herman bringing him in as an offensive consultant.

The word was that Herman had permission to hire Applewhite as OC if he did not get the UH head coaching job. I could see if Beck left that Herman would hire Major as OC.

Sorry, some won't like it but thanks but no thanks.

Frankly play calling is light year's improved and Beck seems to be a bit of a QB whisperer and very good recruiter.

Would rather have Beatty.

I  agree with you Chuck. Beatty is a better recruiter and a very good receivers coach. Applewhite is damaged goods so that means he will probably end up on Saban’s staff as a consultant.
