An interesting domino effect?

If Baylor and TCU get left out of the playoff tomorrow, pressure from the schools on Bowlsby to add 2 teams and have a CCG is going to be tremendous.

Could be the last straw?
i think this is definitely the likely scenario. I think TCU/Bu get left out. Question will remain are BYU, UCF good enough to add?

If TCU and BU get left out, we know the whole thing is fixed. It would be incomprehensible. But we do know that money talks, so who would be coming with the money? It would demonstrate the sad shape that college football is in.

I think you're correct Matt.

There is a ten year contract for this FOUR team play-off. They will not change it to 8 teams. The media and ESPN like the controvercy. It gives them something to talk about 24/7 for 4 months out of the year. It will force the Big 12 to expand and play a title game, or risk being left out every time there are four other good teams from the other four power conferences.

I thought the big 12 commish said there is a waiver in the contract in which we could ask the ncaa for a championship game even with only 10 teams. NCAA would probably agree to it.

Wasn't the Big 12 rated one the tougher conferences by espn data? If so, why would they bump TCU down for a team that was in what they rated one of the worse conferences? Or if they wanted someone that played better competition this weekend, Baylor played a top 10 opponennt. If they want to replace TCU, they would be a better option. They also have that head to head thing also. I would think the top 4 remains the same.

NateSilver says the committee could take "the easy way out" and avoid the head-to-head argument completely by omitting both Baylor and TCU.

ESPN has certainly been pimping tOSU

Big12 was rated the toughest conference. But for the committee its easier to put tOsu at 4 bc 1)they avoid the tcu/bu situation 2)its easier to piss of 2 smaller religious schools then tOsu

playoffs arnt expanding for at least 4 years probably 10.

Before tonight, you had two interesting schools of thought. If a couple of these teams in 1-4, other than TCU, lost in their conference championships allowing Baylor and TCU to sneak in, all other conferences would have moved toward eliminating the conference championship. On the other side, if Baylor and TCU got left out, it seemed apparent that the Big 12 would need to realize what that extra game meant as far as resume and exposure towards the end of the season. It looks like the 2nd scenario will play out and it would be in the Big 12's best interest to be proactive on changing the perception of the conference.

We screwed up not going to 12 back when. . . how much better do we look with Louisville (rival for WVU) and BYU. . .

We own the right to the Big14 and Big16 already. . ..

FSU and Clemson were never coming. . . .

Add AF, Army and Navy. . each a great road trip. . .

Others to consider. . .UCF and USF. . .strengthen the East Coast and Florida ties

Tulane. . OK, great road trip. .  .

Cincy and Memphis are rumored. . ..not crazy about either but I would have approached Pitt

I'd prefer UCF and USF out of that group.

With all due respect, all of those teams seem mediocre and imo would not add much prestige to the current collection of schools.

I would rather go after teams like Louisville, Clemson, FSU etc.

The thing about adding teams is that the teams you add have to make the fox and espn willing to add to the Big12 pot about 25 million apiece¿ so unless you pull someone away from the big 5 that is not happening. ... for the record I believe TCU gets in....

If we add the 2 Fla. schools, we'd make a trip to Fla. every year. CS could really recruit Fla. - hell, the whole SE - in that scenario.
