Allen vs. DeSoto

[Mike Roach]

Sorry, score tied at 22.

Murray completes a pass down to the Desoto 25.  Desoto corner had the pick and his own safety came across to collide with him and pop the ball right into Allen's hands.  Play of the game puts Allen in field goal range with 1:27 left.

Murray spikes it with 19 seconds left on the desoto 9 yard line.  Took a big hit on his run and came up limping.

With no timeouts Allen sprints the field goal team on to win it 25-22.

Postgame thoughts: Kyler Murray has a hell of an arm but struggled all day with a tough DeSoto pass rush and couldn't find his accuracy.  Bryce English was an absolute monster for DeSoto.  He collapsed the pocket at will.  Heartbreaker for DeSoto again at the hands of Allen.  Murray is definitely an exciting prospect but the questions I raised about his arm mechanics, touch, and accuracy during our Elite 11 coverage were on display today.

Jaylen Guyton who is headed for Notre Dame had a big day and was the only receiving threat Allen could manage.  He was big time.

People are raving about English on Twitter.

We might want to revisit his recruitment. He tore it up in their last game, too.

[Aaron Carrara]

Jeez.  What a game.  Kyler Murray is a good HS QB.

Murray said after the game that they feel like the underdog because DeSoto talks so much.  It's hard for me to see Allen as an underdog in any situation.
