Nobody is making UK or Duke recruit those guys. They know they've got them for a year and they're obviously fine with that.

SignUp Now!Agree with this, have voiced this opinion on the board as well. Baseball and football players don't seem to gripe about this method. Go pro if you want, if not stick around for three years. One and done is "renting players" as coach Ryan said, but also the players "renting" the teams/schools for a few months as well so they can become draft eligible.I'm all for the system implemented in baseball.
Let them go pro in basketball but make them stay in school for 3 years if they don't opt for the NBA.
The NBA was tired of getting untested HS kids and paying them millions to flame out I guess. They can use their D league as their AAA version of MLB and develop these guys before plugging them in to a NBA roster. I imagine MLB teams blow a lot of cash on prospects who don't make it, but their rosters and systems carry a lot more players than an NBA team can hold and pay.she's a US Senator from Misssouri. not sure why she felt the need to get in this.
the NBA is the reason for one-and-dones. they instituted a 19-year old minimum to be drafted. kids have to go to school or a couple have chosen to play overseas.
i also feel baseball does it right. if a kid feels he's ready to go pro after highschool, god bless him and let him go.
yes they could do that but they don't have to. It was collectively bargained to exclude under-19 year old so effectively they get a 'free' minor league from the colleges. The NBA was tired of getting untested HS kids and paying them millions to flame out I guess. Just my suggestion, I know the NBA will do what they want. What they want is the free minors as you stated; good for the NBA, craptastic for the average college hoops fan. I assume the NBA and the Universities/NCAA somehow consult on these rules prior to laying down a rules system? Therefore both entities are culprits for the one and done system. Just saw UK could lose upwards of 7 guys to the NBA! A few sophomores and a lot of frosh. You would think guys like Taylor would look at the talent moving on and realize he needs more seasoning. What are the current rules for a player backing out of the draft and returning to college? Deadlines?yes they could do that but they don't have to.
