I will be 66 come Wednesday and I have learned a few things.
Yes actual image!
Being a fan is hard... Think about it for a second. We get pain most of the time and only brief moments of joy. That's why, like me at my age, fans should not think long term or big picture. This basketball season sucks but we fans got that moment of joy when our team over came a 22 point deficit and beat the Sooners in overtime.
The football season wasn't much better but we got a feel good moment with the win over Oregon State. Did it make up for getting run out of the Cotton Bowl in the Red River Shoot Out? No but it sure put a better taste in my mouth than if we had lost.
We got to see the ladies volleyball team win a National Championship and it was especially sweet after losing in the finals last time out.
Agony followed by a moment of ecstasy, but we as fans live for those moments and some are so good they can last for a lifetime. What Longhorn fan will forget that night in the Rose Bowl? Take that Johnny Football!
Last season I had Oregon State, Marquis Goodwin, our gals in volleyball and one basketball come back win. Pretty thin but I have seen worse.
The greatness of sports is there is always the next game, the next season or for a lot here the next Tail Gate.
