A little birdie

agree, change is needed but I just hope that we have all been careful with what we have wished for......

While I am ready for the Mack Brown era to be over, I have nothing but respect for what he has accomplished at Texas. This program was in shambles before he came. Mack reenergized the program and reunited the fans like no one since DKR. It is time for him to go, he should have retired 4 years ago, but I truly hope it is done in a dignified manner. IMHO, he deserves it.

I will call this rumor at this point but we are on it. But I have been told that the announcement that everyone wants could be coming very soon.
I love Mack and wanted him to ride off in the sunset.... but it is time.

Agreed but it's up to Mack at this point. If he retires he will be a beloved figure, I have no doubt. If he stubbornly forces his way back, he is ruining his own legacy and all of the goodwill he earned.

Powers is letting Mack decide if he wants to announce before or after Baylor and I have been told it will be before, as no one wants to take the chance of doing it in the wake of a bad loss to BU. All indications are it will be the Monday press conference right after Thanksgiving weekend.

Very interesting indeed and thanks for sharing

I don't think it's Mack decision anymore about timing, if retiring isn't Mack's decision then timing isn't.

If Saban is indeed the guy, its Saban's call.

If it's before the Baylor game than why not do it the Monday before the Thanksgiving game so he get's a proper tribute at the final home game rather than wait until after that game? Plus it might create a better atmosphere with a larger attendance if his retirement is made official before the game. Otherwise, it's probably going to be pretty dead for that game.

Why haven't any national or local media picked up on any of the Saban to Austin rumors besides the talks that happened in the spring? And add to the fact that shortly after Alabama gave Saban and staff extensions and raises. If was going to happen it would've been then. I think mack announces retirement and coaches the bowl game with the new HC named shortly thereafter. I'm thinking Mora is more realistic at this point until we get any concrete evidence that Saban is interested. Interesting weeks ahead tho.

Because proper tributes happen after retirement, not on the heels of a bad loss and during the middle of a critical period in the season. More importantly Mack doesn't want a distraction before a very important Tech game. He doesn't want one before the BU game either but realizes that timing is better than after a potential BU blowout and also that the extra motivation from "send-off" game could actually help the team's chances, whereas our chances under regular circumstances are not so great.

Doesn't want to take away from seniors tribute.
