1. Patterson probably is a real candidate but Luck will be named AD very soon. Probably next week.

2. There is lots of of info flowing from every direction. Some of this info is being put out as "smoke" to slow down all the chatter about coaching searches etc. It does not mean one party is wrong or right. You have to realize this situation is VERY fluid. Info that was good just 30 minutes ago may no be anymore. Things are in flow every minute.

3. Lots of people picking WVU this week. I know the players have had this one circled for a while. Are still pissed over last year. We will dominate WVU

4. I know no ones wants to hear this but I just feel there still may be a chance Mack is back in 2014.. Say 50%

5. I believe do believe Saban has real interest in Texas But I think we lost our shot last year. Had Mack retired last year Saban would be our coach right now. I just don't think He leaves Bama now. Just my opinion

6. Meyer, Carroll, Briles are my next three in order who we should target

7. Ash is done for the year. I also do not see him playing ever again.

8. Marcus Johnson is going to be a flat out stud the next few years.

9. Cedric Reed is going to be an All American next year.

10. I think when it's said and done we will land Solomon Thomas the stud 2014 DE

11. Everyone listen to the Hornsports podcast every Wednesday night 8-10pm live

By golly MB, all of these points are valid and I concur. Nice job.

Mack coming back at 50%? That's the worst thing I've read all season. I didn't sign up to hear that. Lie to me.

I understand.. Trust me I was 100% done with Mack after BYU game. I am just getting a very very bad feeling of late.. HOPE I am 100% wrong

Thanks! Some good and some not-so-good news in there.

1. Just ready for it to be over.

2. Good points.

3. I think it will be very close.

4. No way.

5. Very possible that you're right.

6. Good list. I'd put Harbaugh above all of those and Tomlin just after Carroll.

7. Sad.

8. No doubt.

9. Hope he comes back.

10. Hope so.

11. Look forward to it!

I think I'd have to take a break from All boards for a year if Mack came back. I don't even read recruiting updates this year which amazes me after being a $10 a month subscriber for over a decade.

Please be 100% wrong...please!

I just cant let myself believe Mack can be back. there is just no logical way it makes sense, and from what is being reported several places in terms of the BMD pushing all these changes with Deloss, Luck, talking to Saban, etc I just cant imagine they would allow themselves to roll over and bring Mack back after all that for a lame duck season. People have wondered what would happen if UT won out (they wont), and I think Mack could just get bought out, but it will be spun as a retirement. I saw it mentioned today worst case scenerio if Mack was defiant he gets bought out because simply too much is at stake for Texas right now be it their market share in college FB, the LHN, the Aggie position, etc

Mack is not coming back!
I sure hope not, but with all the change about to happen within Bellmont, something has to be done to provide stability within the football program until the new AD gets settled in. We aren't going to be able to hire a coach and let him grow or settle into the job. He is going to have to be running almost the entire football program (including donors) from day 1. Its a short list of people who can do that.

Randolph, you act like any head coach or AD at any school needs to have the former HC hanging around to help "ease the transition." Perhaps in some instances that might be ideal, but at the same time it often creates more problems than it solves. It also doesn't relate to reality that we see much of the time.

The whole idea is to hire someone competent enough to fulfill the challenging roles of the job to begin with. Presumably, when you throw the kind of money around that we appear set to, that should be an indication we're going to hire guys who don't need to be hand held. There may be some growing pains in certain aspects, but those may be better managed without prior regime guys holding on. Further, Mack's hardheadedness surely is showing, and it's doubtful he'll be a major positive by hanging around, whether as HC or merely around Bellmont.

I struggle to think of a major program that has replaced a head coach and their AD at the same time. When neither of them have a clue how the institution functions, has relationships with major donors or even have a clue where the Men's room is, there is a high risk of mistakes being made or decisions not being executed smoothly.

Bellmont needs to be cleaned out, so there will probably not be an effective support staff in place for months. Baseball and men's basketball need new coaching staffs. Plonsky needs to be replaced. Not only can I not name another program with such a level of discontinuity, I can't think of any other $200 million organization that has smoothly rebuilt itself to such a degree without some major missteps.

Thinking the change of a head coach is an isolated change is misguided. Something has to be done to ensure continuity at some level and I'm not seeing it yet. To say I am concerned that things could go very wrong with all these changes is an understatement.

The new AD will have plenty of time to get settled in and make changes in basketball and baseball. Basketball season starts this week, so no change is happening until at least the end of the season. That gives the new AD until April to get Barnes out. And with respect to baseball, Augie is safe at least for this year. If Augie does not retire at the end of the year, then the new AD will clean house in June or July. So with these two sports, there is plenty of time to get things done.
