C'mon man...

Why is it considered to be a hater when we want our beloved horns to do better than 4-8 and not get blown out by Iowa State?

Charlie said it himself.  "Texas shouldnt lose more than 6 games a year, and it wont happen again" - 2014.
This

lay down at wv?  wow, what game were you watching.  i don't think any of you would be satisfied with anything less than an NC.
Leave it to Rotty.  SMH.  WV, our offense didnt even bother showing up.  What game did you watch?

Yea you are right Texas should have won a NC.  You got me buddy.  Anything else to add?

Now seriously if you want to add something clever how about giving me a reason for the Iowa State 24-0 since you seem so compelled argue every post I make.  Im all ears unless of course that is what you meant by winning a NC?

laying down implies 0 effort.  i watched a game where i saw the players fighting for a win.  i bet if you asked the players that would describe their effort not as laying down but 100%.  execution, well, that's a different subject.

Ok, so they fought there hearts out and just happen to lose while giving up season highs to their RB Smallwood.  Moving on

Now Iowa State, please continue...

just for giggles lets call the Iowa State and Texas game the "Winner loses their job and Loser keeps his" bowl.

good, i'm glad you agree.  it reminds me of people calling the team "soft".  that, i have a problem with.

i don't have any issues with what you stated about isu.  they got blown out.  it was an extremely frustrating game to watch. i'm glad i was drinking that night.

I stopped drinking kool-aid after the ND game and now J Walker is more fitting.

I dont like the soft stigma either.  Hated it when Mack was here and we were getting run over by a BYU QB.  Still hate it but I realize our defense is young and I give them more of pass then I do our offense.

Vance even warned us before the season unlike his counterpart which did the opposite telling us the offense had been rejuvenated.

Last year our defense was great and its not very good right now but we lost so many starters from year it is expected.

I don't think the team is "soft", per se, but they play fundamentally stupid, undisciplined football at times. I guess you can blame some of that on youthful inexperience. But, ultimately who's responsible for that?

To review, we rank #86 in Total Offense and a putrid #107 (out of 128) in Total Defense. What side of the ball does Strong specialize in again?

LOL! Is anyone going blind trying to read this crap?

Can you list Swoopes' accomplishments this year?

He's run for 11 TD's and passed for 3.  He's passed for 386 yds. and run for 399 yds.  He avg.'s over 7 yds. per play.  Pretty damned good for a backup, who has just played half the year, wouldn't you say?  But you still can't bring yourself to admit that is an improvement?

Nice diversion, Doc. I tip my hat to you, except, of course, I busted you in the act. lol

The question at hand is a comparison to Blake Bell. Your contention was/is that he's better than Blake Bell. Now, it's about me admitting improvement? Well here, let me huff and puff and blow your outhouse down. lol

Blake Bell (Jr season) – PASSING: 140 comps out of 233 attempts, 1,648 yards, 12 TDs, QB rating of 132.2. Add to that he rushed for 24 TDs. His senior year he caught 4 TD passes, which Swoopes has not done at all.

So one could easily and convincingly argue that Swoopes even looks up to Blake Bell. And I just did.

The entire point is that Swoopes, in order to be a QB, must function as one between the 20s. We can't hope for good punt and kick off returns to get us into Swoopes' range of effectiveness (goal line). He's a one-trick pony, a gadget if you will. He's not a serious QB. If anything, I give credit to Swoopes for finding his niche and thriving within it.

I don't know. Colt McCoy made a living running for his life. lol

Seriously?  Colt was the most accurate passer in the history of college football.  He, also, had two NFL receivers in Cosby and Shipley and a damn good OL.  What running for his life are you talking about?

Doc, if you will remember, so many of Colt's most successful plays were busted plays where he made something out of nothing. He was running for his life (from the rush) and so often turned that into glory.

Heard can potentially do this, too, if he'd keep his eyes downfield if his first option is covered. But he doesn't.

Have you seen a listing of the top 20 offenses in college football? Guess how many of them we played?

Strong and Bedford both have a pretty long history of defensive success. Do you think they forgot how to coach? Or do you think there might be other factors that have come into play?

Why is it everyone thinks these issues are black/white with no shades of grey.

Getting concussed or not getting concussed has nothing to do with toughness though.

Uh, where did you whip this out of? The subject hasn't even come up. lol

I mean we could play all day with that stuff. LOL  Having dirty underwear or not having dirty underwear probably has nothing to do with toughness, too. lol

Ok, so are saying Texas help pad their offensive stats?  I know Iowa State is an offensive juggernaut. and all but.

Yes.  JK.  I would like to see some improvement after 2 years.   Edit - He has proven he can develop a great defense.  2014 was one of the best period in a long time.  They just tired out.  The whole philosphy Strong adopted is just having a QB to manage the game and not lose it didnt work.  The defense carried the team.  We saw the results in 2014 great defense shitty offense doesnt equate to well.  But yea he has proven it, just not that defense alone wins games.

Freshmen replacing Brown and Hicks and both corners.  Lack of dominate DL.

Goes both ways, for both Strong supporters and those of us which expected some improvement in year 2.

Good convo, folks. Enjoying this.

Big key for next year, defensively, will be whether or not Ridgeway returns or not. He comes back, we are a step ahead on the DL.

It's pretty hard to show improvement on defense if you graduate every talented upperclassmen you have. The one upperclassmen who didn't graduate spent the season battling back issues.

I'm going to believe that this season is an outlier in a career of running great defenses.

Ridgeway is key.

Speaking of which not really impressed with Brick Haley's recruiting thus far.  Its not signing day yet, but we need some impact DL.   He better get a move on.  Elliott or Oliver would be nice.

Perhaps I misinterpreted. I thought you were questioning Heards toughness because of his inability to stay in the game. My bad.

Oliver isn't happening. But it would be nice if Haley could grab a few of those LA kids at DT.

I don't know about Elliott. The guy is so fickle. I just picture him in my head turning around and knocking out our MLB on some play when he decides to change loyalty. lol
