2026 PORTAL

I guess Texas is gonna roll with what they have in the cupboard on the OL. It worries me a little because I'm a little apprehensive in Flodd's judgement on IOL. He is one that stated Stroh earned the spot, but clearly was not up to the task.

It's really not Flood's judgement. Harris and Sark are calling the shots. IMO, if you can't find experience like they've been looking for, then take a hard look at that RS freshman from Indiana who just entered. I would trust any OL coming out of Indiana.

Also, we have an OG who is rehabbing an ACL but was competing for a starting job when he was injured. Then there's Jaydon Chatman, who has improved and played more last year.

Is Chatman the OL who was competing with Baker for the RT job last fall -- before going down with a knee? If so, has he been moved to guard?

Cojoe is who you're thinking of. And no not moved to guard as far as I know.

Cojoe! Right!!

He and Baker were in a real battle last preseason - so Cojoe can play a little. Someone on Orangebloods was speculating that the starting lineup may be Baker at LG and Cojoe at RG.

You know... history suggests that it is very important to have a very good back-up tackle... perhaps one who can swing to either side. This concerns me a bit, even if we do find suitable guards in Baker and Cojoe.

He can play both OG and OT. There's also Andre Cojo.

So we sign a mediocre QB and have zero OL scheduled for visits ?

I don't think anyone really knows what the staff is doing right now, visit wise. I would like to see the redshirt freshman from Indiana visit though I don't think he's the veteran we're looking for.

I think we'd be okay going with what we've got, if we have to.

The QB pick up was to make sure we don't have to burn Dia Bell's redshirt and aren't forced to play a true freshman.

I am not privy to the staff's schedule other than what I hear and read out there. I would not assume Texas is doing nothing on the OL spot.

We improved the OL situation drastically, with or without a proven LG player from the portal. We started out needing two guards, so everything has fallen into place except for the one OG spot. However, players get better by the year, so Chatman or Cojoe might serve us well if we go that route. I would not throw money at a player who isn't going to start so I hope we exercise some restraint.

A lot of college tackles move to guard in the NFL. Why not give them an early taste?

We will just need to see development from players for our guard spot. Something we haven't seen...

Oh and we have to pray no one of the 4 decent linemen we do have get hurt.
