2026 PORTAL

When you look at all these huge numbers, it's easy to believe the 40+million number being claimed for the Texas roster.

This also makes you understand that the money ball aspect of roster management is crucial. I guess each team needs to figure out a budget for each position group.

It's awesome for the top athletes, but college football (and bb) are now professional leagues without any real salary cap, minimal school loyalty and no more facade of playing purely for the love of the sport.

I imagine we'd play Goosby at RT and Baker at RG if Seaton came. Goosby has some experience there in 2024 and held up damn good. That would put 2 plus run blockers on that side for Brown and Smothers to run behind. Seaton PFF grades show he's a great pass blocker and meh in the run game. Seems like they will put on Arch's blindside. Still need another LG.

I'm not sure Goosby would be down for that. He chose to forego the NFL draft to come back....to play RT? I'd be shocked if that was the case.

I agree with this. Goosby played LT and RT in consecutive weeks last year (I believe). HIs versitility adds to his draft stock IMO. With Goosby and Seaton we would have two 1st round picks as tackles. Baker projects as a guard in the NFL by many scouts. Then (absent another portal addition) we would have several talented and unproven players battling for the LG spot.

If we land Seaton our OL goes from a tremendous concern to a strength overnight.

I don't think Goosby or Seaton are afraid of competition. Let them battle for the LT spot. At the end of the day one of the two moves to RT.

Remember former Dallas Great at LT Tyron Smith played RT in college for USC. It's not like playing right field in little league baseball (not that you said that).

They will both be first round picks regardless of where they play next year.

Just win baby and protect for the golden boy.

Agree.

I apologize for not having the link, but I read something recently that said Trevor Goodby was projected to play RT in the NFL. Not sure if that was directly said to him, but if it was then it would make sense he moves there this year to get tape at RT.

On that note, it was also reported that Baker met with the texas staff and they all agree that his position going forward would be at a G position at the next level.

Maybe things work out the way they're supposed to. Who knows.

Hearing the Goosby interview with Bobby Burton announcing his return made it sound like he's down to play anywhere.

We need Seaton and Townsend and we’re set to make a run next year. With those guys, that would give us Seaton and Goosby at tackle with Baker and Townsend at guard and killer RB’s. Not to mention our QB and coach BOOM running the defense. Let them beat that next year!!!

With NIL and portal, has high school relationships been tossed aside?

No, but I do think you'll see teams start reducing the size of their classes to 18-20 players each time. Development is not as important anymore when other teams are doing it for you and you just pick them up in the portal when they arer developed.
