K Johnson expected to announce today. Gerry thinks he's going to pick aggy.

If we get Lockett, then this doesn't hurt too much.

He wants to play offense. He has been pitched as a RB (by Oregon) and a WR (by Nebraska) but he is more than likely to grow into a very athletic and very physical TE.

Go watch his Hudl. It's a fun one

Gerry said yesterday that Townsend is a very accomplished LB and RB. TE being the preferred position, but LB as an option.

If we get Lockett and Ffrench we need to shut down WR recruiting. If Sark doesn't back off in the transfer portal at WR we're going to have the same problem as we do with DT. The attrition at WR is inevitable, as it sits. Edge is fixing to be a portal problem as well.
Finkley, Simmons, Umeozulu, Akana, Sorrell, Burke and Vasek will have to share time with buck position. I didn't list Moore since he is probably gone after this season.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

The issue at DT has been poor recruiting, not getting enough bodies in the room via recruiting. The Transfer portal was a necessity this year and probably will be after this season too.

With WR, there is no current issue. That room is loaded, though a lot of our front line guys this year will be from the portal after what we lost last year. That said, after this year, I'm not sure we will need much from the portal at WR with guys like Johntay Cook, Deandre Moore and Ryan Wingo ready to be the top 3 along with whoever develops behind them or if any of the transfers stay for their 4th year. We bring in 2 5 star WRs in this class and the cycle of recruiting studs who develop into starters after a year or so continues.

And what is the Edge problem? That room is as healthy as it has been in a while. Sure, we may lose some guys to the portal but only because they won't get snaps because others have surpassed them. We've got some studs coming in this recruiting cycle too.

This is the point I was trying to make. I don't believe in over recruiting a position. Underclassmen will leave and HS recruits will shy away from a full position room. HS kids are looking for the fastest route to the field. IMO that is what happened at DT this cycle.
I think that teams need to take a 2-1-2-1 approach on two man position groups. ex. sign two DL one year and one the next. Use the portal when need arises, but no more than two at any one position. That's just my opinion. I sure would hate to loose Wingo , D Moore or Cook because we thought we needed 3 senior transfers.

I see Manning at the helm 2 years tops (25 & 26). Then a healthy QB battle between rJR Owens, rSO Lacey, and rFR Bell in Fall 2027 (throw in another high level 2027 QB as a true Fr).
Who would you like to personally start after Manning?

Yes think we are good at WR unless have mass exodus. DT concerns me going into SEC, if we were still in B 12 would be different. Look how Ga. & Bama built. Yeah we shut down Bama last year& really should beat year before. We had Sweat & Murphy then.

Not sure at this point and time. Trey showed some promise in the Spring, KJ appears to have Sark's praise and Dia is highly rated and is very athletic. All I know is that whoever wins should be pretty damn good....although it might feel like a let down after Ewers and 2 years of Arch (if things work out the way we all think it will).

I'm just thankful we have this luxury right now. I'm still gun shy after the whole David Ash, Kai Locksley, Tyrone Swoopes, Jerod Heard era. Shane Buchelle was ok and I liked the grit of Ehlinger.

Burke, Simmons, Vasek and Akana are going to be hard to keep off the field. I think Sorrell has hit his ceiling. You have to play Moore due to his track record.

What do the senior transfers have to do with Wingo, Moore or Cook? None of those WRs transferred out and the seniors will be gone next year so why would they transfer then?

You have your opinion, I have mine.
