2025 Recruiting Board/Thread

Lack of DT recruiting and now Oregon has swooped in and taken the number 1 recruit in Texas. I am not "the sky is falling" kind of guy but it does lend one to have concerns about the recruiting strategy for the Longhorns. Maybe what we have done the past 3 years needs to be tweaked to accommodate the changing times that is college football.

There is still a ways to go and we will need that time to get our recruiting needs addressed. Lets hope that it gets figured out and we can land another top 10 class.

We at least have a very good football team this year and are loaded at QB, WR and RB.

Just gonna have to outscore everyone.

It's not as bad as seems to be thought. We can make up for the DT misses with picking up a pair on NSD and picking up a few from the portal, as we did this year.

I liked Brandon Brown but he's not God's gift to defensiive tackle. There will be others.

A lot is going to happen between now and December. After three straight top 5 classes, I'm going to place my trust in Sark & Co.

That said, don't be surprised if UT stops recruiting DK Moore altogether. Staff is said to be pissed by the lack of respect shown to them during the announcement phase. They feel led on. No advance notice to them about the decision. No communication after the decision. This, after Sark basically threw down the very best UT has to offer to him and all of the family members he brought with him.

We will have some studs on defense this year. If this is a poor recruiting cycle the main effect will be felt in the next few years after that.
I’m not sure I have seen recruits consistently picking other teams at the last minute like this cycle. I thought the record the team had last year and the chance to play with the qbs we got would lead to a possible top ranked class.
Oh well…we still got Sark. And he is proven to get results.

Or he's glad he dodged a player who's all about the bag, not the education, development for NFL, long-term in-state connections, etc. I get the impression Sark won't chase those kind of guys because he knows it could disrupt the culture he's created. In the long run, it's smart coaching to build a team with the guys who are bought in for the right reasons. Just look at where the aggys are with their high $$$ '22 class vs. Sark.

OTF swears up and down that it wasn't money. Seems like he was looking for a way to not go to Texas. He had a few months to commit to Texas so its time to move on from this one.

Bobby and Gerry both stated this morning that DK was one of the silents. I'm sure the flip didn't sit well with Sark. If he can land Lockett and Ffrench they will be just fine. And there is still Tanook Hines to go after. Johnson is supposedly leaning toward the gaggys.

Besides that he was 3 * and DT has one of highest fail rate. Moore was only one that was surprised so far.

Pettijohn isn't coming to UT. Apparently got his feelings hurt when Texas hosted Madden Faraimo and treated him so well. Pettijohn, for whatever reason, did not have a very good visit to UT.

I would imagine the not so great visit is precisely what led Texas to bring in Faraimo.

It is still December. I thought I heard or read that a new early signing period in June would start next year.

Read that his OV did not go well so I suspect Sark pulled back.

While the offense will be fine (why can’t we get a top 5 Te?), it’s getting clear we can’t recruit elite defenders for the front (LB and DT). I’m talking top 5 caliber 5star talent. Sure it’s possible we can groom them and get them to play well and get some from the portal but momentum not there.

I want a Georgia style elite defense and winning is supposed to help us get one but so far losing faith.
