2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Like all of you I do not have any inside info on his recruitment.  Maybe it was the small town feel of college station, maybe the relationship with the coaches, who knows?  This is why I don't like waiting so long to get recruits in the boat.  We have lagged for quite a long time with getting commitments.  There are not very many 5 stars left on the board.  Each one we miss out on makes a loss that much harder.  I wish we would have been able to sign more elite guys earlier in the process.

It's a long, long way to December. Relax, let this play out.

I sense that Sark isn't necessarily interested in players who make it all about the NIL which may be the case here. The more I learn about Sark, that approach would make sense, and I think it's the right way to recruit in the long run. If the guys on the team are only in it for the money it's tough to build a winning culture. Based on last season, Aggy may just be the poster child for the losing bag strategy. We'll see as this new NIL world plays out in the coming years.

Sark has stacked two classes that were ranked #3. We got a chance to be really good this year. I’m going to trust that Sark knows what he’s doing and he will keep bringing in highly ranked classes. He’s been good at getting kids nation wide plus good portal guys. So we’re going to be alright.

I might have to agree with Zion. Most of the schools ahead of us haven't been as picky as Texas (or just recruiting better). They are at 20 or more commits at this point with 3/4 of the 5*'s.

I'm with Baron and Zion.  If this is such a brilliant strategy, why aren't the programs that consistently win doing this wait it out strategy?  I'd rather have a kid committed to us and use that to recruit other high caliber kids as opposed to waiting until December.  Let's hope we don't lose momentum with Black and potentially Baker!

It's surprising that Sark (and offensive wizard) isn't recruiting the top WRs and TEs well atleast earlier in the process.  Hopefully we can land Wingo.

Anyways, season is starting.  Time to watch some Texas football!

I was relaxed for the past several weeks when several people put in CB’s for McKinley to Texas.  Unfortunately relaxing doesn’t make for the best outcome.

How quickly we forget.  Sark put back to back top 5 classes, but now some question how he got there. How did we get 2 of our 5 starting OL, 2 yrs ago?  We waited and when the coaching carousel stopped running, we were the beneficiaries.  Sark even said earlier in the year, if I wanted 5 OL committed, I would have then.  He waited for his priorities and got them. Hill last year?  Aggy crapped the bed and he flipped, and so on and so on.

Now, if you're frustrated because we have to wait for these events to happen to get recruits, then I get it.  Mediocrity for a decade and a half has it's price and we are paying it.  If Sark and company stay the course they may be able to get some guys earlier, but for now this is the way it has to be done.

I suspect that 10+ wins this year and 2025 will be a little easier sell.  But like Aaron Rodgers said "R-E-L-A-X".  Enjoy the season.  It is going to be a good one.  Remember that UT sells its self.  Recruiting will always be ok.  We haven't developed in the past, but we are now.  10+ wins, beating bama and 8-12 draft picks and the line will form around the block.

It is not a trust issue but rather one of timing.  I think it’s better to recruit elite players early and get them committed rather than wait and try to close some on the backend.  Georgia and OSU do it this way and are ranked 1 and 2 respectively in the recruiting rankings.

With each 5 star that goes off the board we dramatically reduce our chances of being in the top ten.  I do however love your optimism and hope that you a correct.

I believe in Sark in recruiting, coaching staff and first halves :)

Texas is running a bit behind last years curve. At this point last year we had at least 18 commits. If I remember correctly a lot of people were worried last year at this point so we are just running par for the course. 😎

I know one thing, Texas will have a chance to gain serious momentum 1 week from tomorrow. It's on them to flip the script and get it going.

Were you also relaxed when all those CBs came in for aggy with Anthony Hill last year?

We have no outcome yet.

We had the pied piper, Arch Manning, heading that class. This year is different.

You must understand that Georgia and Ohio State both have years of high-end success and putting players in the NFL under the belts. We don't have that, so we're not really comparable there, yet.

Plus, there's always aggy decommit season so we can continue shopping McK.
