Players that are buried in the depth chart are less likely to stick around,  either by their own choice or from being pushed out.

If they have a recruit that they really like they will make room for them.

I think trying to predicting the size of the 2024 recruiting class at this time is a fools arrend.

Y'all have to stop with the small class stuff. We won't have small classes any more. It isn't smart roster management.

They will always bring in around 25 freshman each cycle. They will force out guys who have been here 1-2 years and they know won't make it to make room for a HS kid that still has upside and give that HS kid 1-2 years to try and develop.

Sark has even said as much in the past.

I really think we're going to have a small class this time. Anyone else?
I don't think we will have 25 like last year, but I do think we bring in about 20 guys from HS and 5 from the portal.

You don't need 85 players to build a roster, more like 60 (think NFL with a 55 man roster). If there are upperclassmen not in that top 60, it is better to replace them with a 4 or 5 star HS talent. This wasn't possible before but with the transfer portal being what it is now, much easier for teams to churn the bottom of the roster.

I think it's impossible to say. The coaching staff will be picky.  After a certain number, each new recruit will require an old player to leave. So on a case by case basis they will make decisions.  If lots of recruits they are high on want in, then the class is going to expand.

Maybe all this talk about all of the players loving the culture will translate into such great player development that they will want to retain most of the roster, but on the other hand I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Where is the development every one has been wanting. Run them off in 1 or 2 years no time to develop them  Take RT Jones as an example.

With 14 Srs. to get to 20 six would have to leave. I can see 4 that might not hurt to lose.

Then tommorow's recruits are always better han todays RS and Sophs.  Like second QB is considered better by some.

I think the low number of players they took from the portal shows they are developing players and not looking to run them off.

I would think that as the average star ratings go up we will see fewer players being pushed out.

Count me in.
Well, I thought it was a well-placed joke right under what @TB14said.

I'm not even sure I think the class is going to be small. lol

Its hard to say. We still have a couple of possible transfers still on the roster. . . or should I say, a couple who should transfer.

Four would be a better number OL & DL.

The size of the class depends on Sark. He can sign any amount fron 15 to 40. Just depends on how many leaves. 18 seems right to me.

60 player roster. Not three deep at each position. Plus punter, kicker and deep snaper. Belive if pro gets hurt team can get another, colleges can not.

How many positions exactly are there (don't say 11 on offense and defense please)?

If you have 60 guys that you are comfortable putting out there in a game you have plenty of depth. The other 25 continue to exist of course but they may be young guys that you don't want playing unless you get desperate.

If you are a Junior or a Senior and haven't cracked that top 60, I am just saying that it is probably best for the roster to bring a promising HS recruit (or transfer player with multiple years of eligibility) in to that spot instead.
