2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Thats the way I see it too ^^^^^
This discussion should may be its own thread but I think Texas has only had three, maybe 4, QBS in the last 20+ yrs that could make the call at the line... and that's it. If I put them in order of D reading QBs: #1 Colt (ignored a lot of GD's calls and read the D instead), #2 Applewhite, #3 Ash (IMO, would have been a NFL QB if not hurt in spite of playing on terrible teams). You could include VY but, let's be honest, he really on had 4-6 plays. IIRC, in the 2005 NC game, something like 64 out of 65 plays were ran out of the exact same set: mostly left or right RPO.

Maybe Texas fans will quit crying about bags now. Wingo was definitely bagged. I mean NIL. LMAO
I'm cool with that. In fact, it's about time Texas stepped up to plate. Keep them coming. Unlike ATM, this staff will develop those 5 star players (jury is still out on the DB room right now).

I remember Davis or Macks recruiting big receviers they let the number of OL go down. What started he slide downwards.

Mitchell might go pro. Worthycould come back also. So for Neylor has been injured and not contrubited not likely to change.
IMO 9 WRS is ideal number Darn keyboard.

Because nobody wanted to play for McWhorter. And McWhorter wanted lighter OL so we ended up with a bunch of 3-star projects.

And, the ones highly recruited (eg; 5* J'Marcus Webb) washed out. I dont use the word "Bust" very often. If a player plays or starts then he really isnt a bust, IMO, he just might not have met expectations, which is highly subjective. That being said, J'Marcus Webb was a bust at Texas by any measure.

He transfered and went on to play in the NFL for a decade. Not exactly a bust, but it does highlight Texas' inability to develop players.

yep, he transferred to a JUCO (Navarro), then West Texas A&M. He ended up making a NFL roster afterwards. Good for him but he was a bust at Texas.

Yeah, I'm not a coach and could be wrong but it looks like QE is still making his decisions pre-snap and hasnt progressed to reading the D as it happens (post-snap). IMO, part of that is ingrained by having all the players look at the sidelines for instructions instead of having the QB go to the line, put a guy in motion to see the defensive reaction (rotation?) and know what defensive player to cue in on to make a throw based on his reaction, regardless of the receiver.
We use motion a great amount. More than most college teams. And by design, all offenses make decisions pre-snap. Not just at Texas. I could be swayed that Quinn spends too much time looking at 1st read so he misses 2nd reads open window and has to skip all the way to check down. But Quinn is good at getting the ball out and not taking sacks. Plus his completion percentage is night and day higher this year than last year.

IT wrote today that they don't expect the staff to pursue DT Dominick McKinley, even if the Aggies continue to lose, unless he and his family make it known he's ready to de-commit.

IT reporting McKinley reached out to the Texas staff this week, but it's still light communication.

Texas remains willing to listen if he gets more serious about opening up his recruitment.
