2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Good post and also good point by SHA. I'll add one thing. Within the top 20 kids in the state, there may be plenty of reasons why the staff would not pursue. Culture fit, scheme fit, academics, work ethic, off the field issues, mainly interested in NIL, player may simply not like UT, baseball prospects, etc..  Rankings are a good guideline, but not the only factor to consider.
I'll add this:

Go look at the top 20 players in Texas and where they are committed. Texas A&M will probably end up "running the state" this year by having 3 of the top 20. No one college is collecting a majority of their commitments.

If Texas  can sign 5-8 top20 a year. amy orignal commitment was about this. The commited Texas HS ers are lowerrated. So far no recruit isin top 20  .

Dubose is top ranked of HSers from Texas at #39 Hampton in the 40's Only 2 in top 50

Recruiting top rated players is nice but coaching is a whole more important. See TCU and Kansas St.

Big Daddy Cane that is correct! You are not wrong. But IMO had nothing to do with my answer i SHA.

My stance is 95% of the time Texas has just as highly rated as the OOS kids. And it is possible to win with them today

What this board sayshas no bearing on who Sark recruits.
"What this board says has no bearing on who Sark recruits."

Then Sark is doing it wrong ?

I have been meditating on the Collin Simmons commitment and wonder if we might be reading it the wrong way.  A lot of Longhorn fans feel uneasy that he visited LSU and then announced a commitment date shortly after.  Most say this does no bode well for us.  I am either living under an illusion or I am really on to something here.  What if Colin made the LSU visit and knew after making that visit that Texas was the place.  The fact that his commitment date popped right after that visit means he either loved LSU and said thats the place or LSU did not match what he felt on his Texas visit and he knew that LSU was not the place.  Bottom line is we truly don't know which it is.  But just because he came out with a commitment date following LSU is not a slam dunk that he is going there, it might have provided him with the clarity he was needing to say that Texas is the place and that his visit there contrasted against the LSU visit made his choice clear to him, though not so much to us.

You're just hung up on rankings. The coaching staff has their own ranking system done by people who know what they're looking at when they see film. Pay site mods, like Bobby Burton, don't really know what they're looking at outside of 40 times, weight/height.

You should not trust Burton more than you trust Sark, or Flood, or other UT coaches. While you act like they're settling for lower ranked recruits, they're getting the recruits they like best based on their intimate knowledge and experience.

Mack Brown took a knee and relied, as you are, on the ranking services. It's like he just used their info instead of watching film himself. And that is when the UT talent cupboard became a problem.

I think this staff has the coaching part down very well. I wouldn't trade any of these coaches for your TCU and Kansas St heroes.

I'm with you. However, I think CS knew he was going to Texas when he left Austin. Baton Rouge was living a fantasy but Texas was the real deal for him. No question he likes LSU. But his family might get to see him play once or twice there. In Austin, they can see him (and he can travel home) about any time they want.

I agree.  There a numerous advantages for him commiting to Texas.  I was just trying to ease my own mind about the timing of him announcing a commitment date and that was the only thing that made sense to me.  Its probably been Texas all along and the LSU visit was just to confirm the Texas commitment was the right way to go.  I hope it puts some of the fans a little a ease when thinking about it from this perspective.

I was going to post the week before the TXHSFB season started, but I finished early and got excited.

Let me know if y'all have any questions and hope you're able to get out and see some games.

Hank South crystal balled Dominick McKinley to Texas.

Per IT, they're saying Texas' confidence in landing DE Colin Simmons isn't quite as high as it was after his official visit to Austin, but confidence remains that the Longhorns can win out.

If anything, the tone of the reports has definitely changed.

We will have 3 5-Stars committed to us by the end of September (at the latest).  If we have a great season, we likely get 1-2 more by January.

Y'all ready for it?  I just hope we can win :)

Recruiting players that are highly ranked on the rankings sure seems to be working for Bama and Georgia. They have dominated CFB and if you look at all their classes they have the most highly ranked kids from the rankings...

He most likely gave a silent to Texas after his visit so confidence went very high but he never pulled the trigger. SO here we are.... Also sounds like he may have told LSU the same. SO here we are.

LSU BMD will make sure his mom and family get to every game. Come on.. That is a non issue. Hell she will probably move to BR and have a gravy job there.
