2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

I'm hoping this isn't bad news for us. He's made a decision before his OV here. That can't be good, can it?

It seems to me that most of the offers the paysites say could commit are three stars. I know we all have been over this a hundred times, trusting the staff, but a bunch of three stars aren't recruiting momentum. We are now all the way down to 71 in the team rankings. I would be willing to guess that a lot of y'all don't know the last time we were so low. Except maybe NTG

My friend down there thinks Simmons is a heavy LSU lean. He notes that he talks a good game about the other schools recruiting him and is curiously quiet with regards to LSU. But he says LSU is out front and we're just trying to close the gap.
That's  Were hes likely to land

There is a ways to go in this one. Next season will tell what way this goes.

Have we had a @NTGsighting lately?

The way I understand it, this weekend will have a bunch of big names from OOS who are ranked high. We're going to throw some haymakers and see how the cookie crumbles.

The commits we hear about are supposed to come out of the last two weekends.

All that matters is the ranking coming next February (or perhaps you could say December). Recruiting is not a linear process and this staff does not push for early commits. Some staffs do - Dabo as a good example.

Gotta agree with Baron

I didn't even know we were ranked that low now, lol. 71st in the 247 Composite but 64th in the On3 Consensus.

And I absolutely agree with you on the three stars. When the recruiting dust settles, the less three stars you have on your roster, the better. And it doesn't haven't anything to do with trusting the staff's evaluations.

I agree with this. I'm also a fan of the staff's confidence and reliance of their own evals. I like the recruiting services, but the coaches know what they are looking for at each position. They have also shown the ability to evaluate and DEVELOP talent. Something that has been lacking severely for a long time.  Recruiting and commitment cycles have changed a bit, so July seems to be when we will start seeing real momentum.

If you add the players we are the far and away favorites for at this time we jump up into the top 20. Using the 24/7 Class calculator I added Jerrick Gibson, Christian Clark, Parker Livingstone, TE Jordan Washington (who isn't even ranked yet), Daniel Cruz, Alex January and Jordon Johnson Rubell.

That's just 7 more players and the ones that would be described as slam dunks. You could add others or remove a few.

This doesn't account for the 5 stars and other high end guys that we have at least a 50/50 shot on.

I could care less about our current ranking because I see no reason at this point to think we won't have a top 5-10 class when all is said and done.
