Brennan Thompson is a raw undersized catch & run WR who played Texas High School Football at the 3A level. I always thought it was ridiculous that some UT fans thought he would be a go-to WR as a true freshmen.

On the other hand, I do think Jonhtay Cook & DeAndre Moore will have higher impacts as true freshmen because they're polished run & catch WRs who played at big-time high school programs in the top classifications of Texas & Cali H.S. football + both them are EEs.
Thompson description sounds like a discription of Colt McCoy

Okay, I got to ask. How does this description of Thompson sound like a description of Colt McCoy.

Maybe he meant like Colt, he comes from small town that was raw, but  Colt's dad helped him.

Playing at 2A Mart did not seem to bother Quan Cosby; Colt did OK playing for Jim Ned; Whittington was decent considering he played at Cuero; I thought Billy Sims was a pretty good back from Hooks; Seems like playing at 3A Sealy did not hurt Eric Dickerson;

And then Big Sandy  when they was B classification  and then A by name of Bobby Mitchell then David Overstreet and Edwin  Simmons.

Simmons was from Hawkins.

Bobby Mitchell was something else. He played at TJC when my sister went to school there. So I saw him a couple of times.

Overstreet was also pretty incredible.

Was Big Leonard from a very small school as well? Can’t remember which one but o seem to remember it was small. He was not.

I covered a Wortham vs. La Poynor basketball game when big Leonard played. I will never forget this. Wortham ran a high-post screen with Leonard stepping out to set a pick. The poor La Poynor kid was watching the guard and never saw Leonard. He ran into Leonard at full speed and just crumpled to the floor. They called Leonard for an illegal screen and really all he did was stand there. But I guess the ref had to call something when the La Poynor player hit the floor. Big Leonard just kind of shrugged his shoulders and smiled. I'm pretty sure Wortham won the state title that year.

Cook has looked the part at the UA all-American practices. Great to see. I expect him to play a bunch next year

Wortham did win the championship.

I happened to be staying in the same hotel as their team during the State tournament. One evening I was walking down the hall and passed Leonard.  I literally had to turn with my back to the wall for him to get by.

I’m not a small person but he may be one of the largest people I’ve ever seen. Definitely the biggest HS kid

I was down at Texas one time at one of their practices when he was there and was a couple of feet away from him and same thing………I had never seen anyone that big in person. I don’t know if Cam Williams is bigger or not but there sure aren’t many bigger. I can’t imagine him being at a small school at that size.

Hearing Malik Mohammad may get his fifth star from Rivals this week. Rivals writers are apparently impressed with what they see of him at UA practices.
