2023 Recruiting Board/Thread

This year's team is drastically different than last year's team.  We don't know if it is for the better, worse or the same yet.  Let the games play out.  I believe UT can play with Bama but will they is the question.  Sept is almost here and we will find out soon enough.  And Hookem

We get blown out, we lose any chance we may have had with Hicks, Wilson, Robinson and Toviano. Especially if we lay a turd the following week. And we may lose one of our higher ranked commits I would think.  I think we'd still be in it for the 2nd and 3rd tier recruits.

Even a blowout may not hurt if we can kick butt the rest of the year. Mack was still able to put together nice classes after the blow u mud stompings.

Agree, tbh. Not really looking forward to seeing our best recruits in attendance for a slaughter.
Im accepting it. It is what it is. These teams are in two different worlds. One is having the best dynasty and other has been bad for a decade. I hope we keep it close but we are gonna be smashed.

The recruits need to see a team that is not going through the motions against Bama, but is going full-bore until the whistle.   We need to show mental strength even if we are getting our butts kicked.  That is up to the coaches.

Two points.

1 Former assit. coaches does not fare well vs Ala. Saben

2 We will have to wait till coaches get thier players. ( oh they have more than 50% now.)

You never know what the refs will do. A couple of bad calls and it may be a close game. Seems to me they owe us a few calls

Exactly.  The recruits will hopefully see a good team culture and good team chemistry that they can buy into and extrapolate an upward trajectory.

The recruits understand that Texas is not currently the top dog, but instead is working towards being one. If they were not open to that concept they wouldn't be seriously considered Texas. I think Sark knows what he is doing by showcasing the game for the recruits.

Interestingfree article on IT about top 25 recruits in Texas

One thing that caught my eye was Gullette at #8 ans Hill at #9.

Question.  Where do the recruits sit during the game?  I hope it's not behind the opponents bench....like I've seen in the past years.  I can see Bama players waving at the recruits if they're behind them...

Yes, its behind the opponents bench unless that's changed very recently.

A friend I have has season tickets over there on the visitors side. Its right there where the visiting recruits sit, behind the visiting team.

He gave me a pair a few years ago and I went. I remember seeing Tyrone Swoops coming into that section and thinking "he looks like a tight end recruit." lol

On 1 above Saban lost two games to assistants last year. And on 2, we should show growth this year.

We don’t play the part of David instead of Goliath with many opponents.
We never lack talent but we do get complacent and we will be ready for this one.
We may lose but won’t get embarrassed.
I tend to agree with this.  Bama has more talent across the board in terms of depth, but I think Texas has talent in multiple spots that can equal them.  Like I said, Bama has more depth talent and that will show in this game.  I absolutely think Texas will lose, but I think there is enough elite talent to make a game of it. The Texas talent is young and you never know what you will get with them.

A$M and Georgia we re getting close to Aggie but not even close to Geo.

Are getting bigger but it is freshmen. We will see.

Its also about more than just talent. As my dad used to say "its not the size of the dog, its the fight in the dog."

What a statement Texas can potentially make in this game. Even a close loss is almost a win for this program. I don't want moral victories, but think about it. We go from losing to Kansas to almost or even upsetting Alabama.

For a young group of guys who seem to really want to make a difference, this game would be an opportune time to do it. They can really prove something here.

At the same time, experience is also a big factor. Bama will come in expecting to win big and will be very machine-like or methodical with their attempted decimation of Texas. Can we withstand that?

That is the key...their want and desire to compete.  Hopefully this staff has instilled that kind of attitude and last year left a horrible taste in their mouth (like it did all of us).  You can want something and try your hardest and still lose and that is okay.  It's when you give up that their is a problem.  I really like that this Texas team is unranked going into the year.  Make their asses work for the respect.

That weekend is going to be nuts.
Hey TFloss,

Since everyone else seems to want to derail the recruiting thread for the '23 season for the game that is 3 weeks away; I read this as a possibly to be here on the 10th of Sept. What is the thoughts of him actually showing up then? Plus who else is a possible showing up for the game?
